I have a nail in one of my tires so I took it to the dealership. I was unaware that there is a key i need to take the tires off. I bought the car used and had no clue about this part. Aparently its goin to cost $90 for them to chizel the locking system off the tire to remove it. They are saying i cant just order another key they would have to replace the whole thing. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should i replace the whole locking system or can i order a key from somewhere?
I assume you're referring to removing the wheel from the hub (not taking the tires off the wheel). If they say they can chisel it out for $90, have them do it. get new locks and don't lose the key to your new set of locks. keep it in the glove box or somewhere in the car.
Even if they say you can't order a new "key", go ahead & give it a shot; you may get a
pleasant surprise a obtain one from the manufacturer. It's always good to try, bro,!
