Default Why does the gas pump stopped even my car's tank isnt full?

It happened recently..
The previous 3 times, it stops at around 50-70% of the tank..
Does anyone know why??

Try Diesel instead.

J/K...

Try using a different pump. My car did that for the first few weeks, but only on certain pumps.

i think all you peeps need to shake your head...

a gas pump...is a freekin gas pump. they all have automatic shutoffs. this occurs when the level in the tank reaches the spout of the nozzle. sometimes....when you are pumping gas....certain pumps will pump alot faster than others...and gasoline will foam...heavily...and if the foam reaches the nozzle...the pump will of course...SHUTOFF...

so...and i have tried and tested this....when it happens again...and im sure it will...cuz it happens to me...just wait a minute or two...and you will find that the gas will go in without a fuss...

it could be the design of the tank...maybe the gas splashes around alot...making alot of excess foam...but it is possible to fill the tank...with any gas pump...they are not designed to fill only certain cars...

anyways...thats my take on it.

stop bashing.

Anyway, happens to most of us. What I do is wait for it to auto kick-off, then take the pump handle nozzle half way out of the hole (to raise the angle) and continue to fill it up until it turns off again. Check out your current price and while seeing if the fuel is almost spurting back out of the tank, tap the pump a few times to hit your desired $ total. haha...gas pumping for idiots.

You boys should be ashamed. You were noobs once, too. As to the problem of the pump shutting off early, check the Technical Service Bulletins and you will find that your model-year has a problem with an overly-sensitive valve in the gas tank and it needs to be replaced. In high temperature and high humidity it flaps closed before the tank is full and shuts off the pump. The TSB's are listed at multiple sites and at Nissan (where they want you to pay for the privilege of viewing). Check *********

Lady Jax is correct.
Thats exactly what the dealer told me when I brought my car to install my new exhaust and to check.
They say I need $160 to fix that.. since my warranty just out..
but I didnt do it since I dont have time...

Fail.

It's a TSB.....

VO(knows common sense would hold true for the post above if we were talking about cars/pumps in general, but not the 350z)

i love it when people post the "use the search!" bashing. if it bothers you so much just ignore the post and move on. why even allow new posts with that logic...just use google or call your local mechanic for every problem, right? forget open discussion. geez.

here is the answer for the OP:

TSB 05-048 Fuel Tank Difficult To Fill ...fuel tank shutter valve issue.

They just got too much time..
Recently I was reading lots of post on how to unlock iPhone.. while I see lots of people keep asking the same question..
I wanna ask them to search..
but when I plan to click on the reply button.. I think its waste of my time, then I go ahead to find more information instead..

also if you turn the handle at a 90 degree angle, up to 180 degrees, upside down, it seems to go in to a full tank without stopping. Not sure why this works, but for me, unless the pump is unusually fast, the 90 to 180 thing always allows for a full fillup at full speed.

+1 I do this, though it doesnt always work, but 90% of the time it does. If this doesnt work, then I pull it out half way and do as others have said.... just kinda figured it out by trial and error.. lol
