Hey i dont know if there is a thread like this already but i have stock brakes on my 06 enthu but i wanna upgrade to factory brembos or a nice aftermarket BBK.

How much better for track use are the brembos compared to stock?


And what is the largest caliper size i can fit in the stock 18's?

Rotor temperature is a function of rotor weight. Without brake ducts if you want 10% cooler rotors you need 10% heavier rotors.

truthfully despite what flaming im going to get a lot of my customer's with the brembo's usually tell me that they suck, and there not all that there cracked out to be. I was going to pick them up from a yard, but went with upgraded rotors and pads instead. .my friend with a G along with the brembo's drove my car and likes the stopping better than his brembo's. .i've driven some customer's cars as well. .i mean there's not that much of a difference

It's true that driving Brembo's and the regular brakes makes no difference on the street. Bring them to the track where you are repeatedly getting on the brakes and soon the case for Brembo's is made. The regular brakes can't cool off with repeated stopping and soon fade into oblivion. The Brembo's while not the best brake for a serious track car are far better than the regular brakes at dissipating heat.

If you want to decrease the stopping distance of your car get stickier tires. The brakes only have the capability to work to the limit of the tire.

That Zeckhausen test is 100% accurate but deceiving at the same time. It leads one to believe there is no benefit to having the Brembo brakes.

well i would say the brembros on our cars are far better then the previous calipers on the previous 05 and below Zs . The new Zs 06+ have larger calipers on them which makes the margin really hard to tell on a DD.


But however you will be able to tell the difference at the track due to fade.
brembros stopping power wont be the reason you get them over stock 06+ brakes with upgraded pads. But the time they fade is why. The brembros can function with more heat/stresses and do not fade as much as stock brakes.

There basic brembros none the less , but more then enough for the daily track person . i would say brembros with upgrade pads and fluid (dot4) would be a nice setup to prevent a person towards going with upgraded calipers for stockish power .

I'm not so much concerned with power as I am with fade, fade is my Major problem

if fade is your issue get the brembros or a real brembro kit which are far more bigger and expensive.

Or else you can do rotors with pads.

iput cross drilled ad slotted rotoras on my z F n R. .i love em. .and i drive like im at the track everyday. .had them so far for 40K. .not one problem. .got Hawk racing pads with them on stock setup. .

you are exactly right...if you track your car you need brembo's, if you don't stay with the stock rotors and calipers because of the benefit of reduced unsprung weight...not to mention cost.
