Default BuiltZMotors Built Motor & TT for Barzten1!

Some of you may heard I recently sold my Vortech kit which Ive been more than happy with for some time. Dr Todd has been wanting me to go with auilt motor and TT kit for a while but I wanted to pay the car off first. Well after about a 6 week down time the motor is in. It would have been shorter but we were waiting on exhaust parts of all things. I put 1000 miles on it and had Todd tune it yesterday to 12psi. That thing called TORQUE is an amazing thing. A/F's are 11's across the board. Car runs flawlessly and it sounds awsome.

Afte the tune I got called out by some guy in a new Carrera and passed him from behind. I thought he was going to be a jerk about it but gave me a honk and a thumbs up. A couple minutes later ran into about 7 sports bike cruising the highway. Lined up with one of them and he gave me the jump. I passed him in one gear.

Just wanted to give thanks and props to Dr Todd and crew at BuiltZMotors for installing the motor, TT kit, new exhaust, downpipes, clutch and flywheel and tuning my car for pennies. Im so happy with it boss!

Here's a list of the new mods:

Arias ED Pistons
Eagle Rods
Half Inch Head Studs
HKS Head Gasket
Stage 2 Heads
JWT Valve Springs
GTM Turbo Cams
Greddy TT Kit
1 Bar Wastegate Springs
Competition Clutch/Flywheel
Aps 3" Exhaust and Test Pipes
HKS SSQ BOV
Replacement AP Rotors and pads

That is a solid setup, what kind of power did it make at 12psi? Are you going for more boost? What ems?

Going to put another 1000 miles on it and tune to 17psi. Im using the Utec. Stilll some more fine tuning before we take it to the dyno. Both of our schedules suck so im going to drive as is for a couple weeks. Im not use to the torque feeling but he thinks Im around 450whp at 12psi

Yah, I'm excited for you Jason, your car feels very smooth and pulls hard on this low boost setting, gonna be fun when we turn up the boost, with the 550cc injectors, those will be the limiting factor for how much power we can expect to see before having to upgrade to a larger injector....
at 12psi, the injectors are seeing a max inj duty cycle of about 82%, don't really want to push them past 90%... but the way it sits now is pretty solid

The tune is very conservative for pump gas, timing is conservative, I wouldn't doubt that it is making mid 400's at the wheels if not as high as 470 or so (according to my butt dyno )

We spent all of a few hours street tuning, 18 different logs to be exact, got it dialed in pretty quick at all different loads...
This project was really satisfying for me cause Jason is a good friend that I have known since I moved out to New Mexico, I'm really stoked that he is happy with the setup, it is clean, and so far no oil leaky leaky

The motor is our basic build plus 1/2" head studs and hks headgaskets, with jwt springs and some gtm cams that I had left over from back in the day... this is almost the exact motor that i have been running in my car for over the past year without issues, and I made as much as 580rwhp/ 615tq at 18psi tuning with the Haltech...

more to come

Dude its insane to me especially never really driving something like this with this power. Ive driven my moms 06 SL600 and this feel faster. Definately more torquey (if thats a word....lol) I had so much fun with my Vortech kit I thought I might be sad without its unique sound and linear power. This is much more fun. Whens your car going to be done?

That Haltech is sweet. Thats what Todd is running. I know of course your going to always want more but I can't see right now how upping the boost would be befinficial. Im spinning in third.

Thanks Booger!

Ordered APS 3" exhaust and 3.5 " testpipes because I was told they would work together with the Greddy kit. The APS 3.5 testpipes are a work of art by the way. Well they didnt line up but APS 3" testpipes do. And they sound amazing.

I was thinking about getting some stickys for the summer I should just wait and get some 18's with better tires. Plus I just randomly spent 18k last month. LOL

Going all out aren't ya? Can't wait to see your result as well.. BTW, once you get your ride back, let me know how the HKS 1000cc injectors sound. I have them and they are pretty darn loud... Tick~Tick~Tick~Tick.. I definitely notice it inside the car with windows up.
