Well, from experience certs alone wouldn't get you much. Experience counts the most but if you have cert and experinece, then that's best.
Cisco has made the ccna much harder to get. They also separated into different concentrations: wireless, security, routing and switchng and voice. CCENT (cisco certified entry network technician) is now the entry level for cisco. It used to be CCNA.
They have also made the CCNP much tougher. You will most likely won't pass the 4 exams (3 if you take the composite) unless you have serveral years of experience under your belt.

Yeah, I'm gonna shoot for the CCNA still hopefully sometime before I graduate next year. I'll have 5-6 years of experience in the IT field so that shouldn't be much of an issue.
