Only solid pegs can cause a crash when touched down. I have to be harsh here, but quit blaming other things and blame yourself for the crash. First of all you shouldn't have been that leaned over on the street, second i would bet your suspension isn't properly set up(yes suspension makes a difference on when your pegs touch down) Last i'm willing to bet you don't know how to properly lean off the bike (rider error ) knowing the proper way to lean off will decrees the lean angle.
