I've ground down the feelers on my F4 and they never grabbed. You always have to have some cornering clearance in reserve when your riding on the street. As stated above, getting off the bike significantly reduces your lean angle and gives you a safety buffer if you need to tighten your line. Rearsets are a great idea once you're dragging pegs on a regular basis AND your form is tight.
