Default Best/Cheapest Place to get new brakes/rotors in SOCAL

Beginning of February im gonna finally have some extra cash coming in to take care of a few things on my Z. One of the things I need done is the brakes, fronts and backs. Was quoted 500 from pep boys but that seems too much and I dont trust them to do a good job. Anyone know what a ballpark reasonable price for this should be? Would it be cheaper if I bought the parts and had them installed by a mechanic. I could do it myself except that I live in an apartment complex and dont have a lift and such. I live in Newport Beach and am looking for a reasonable place in either Orange County or LA. Let me know if you got a good spot or can do it yourself for a good price. Thanks! 2004 non brembos.

Just a note for future reference: regional posts are best answered in the appropriate regional forum.

I just pick up rotors and pads from Paul @ US AutoTek. They're a new vendor here and I admit they gave me an awesome pricing. And I shopped around too.

And I am currently @ R&D getting it installed and other things here

Call OC AutoSports in anaheim. I got my rotors and SS brake lines there. Hella great prices and they use the same blanks as StopTech. I confirmed by the imprinted logo on the hub area. They sell rotors cross drilled, slotted, or cross drilled + slotted for the same price. They also zinc coat the entire rotor for you for free. I think they have gold, silver, black, and maybe red. All of the drilling or slotting is done in house (Anaheim). I believe their SS brake lines are also bought from the same vendor as the one StopTech gets theirs from. They look exactly the same (confirmed by a friend who has StopTech SS lines). Ive had these on my car for maybe a year and a half and do not have any flaking of the zinc (minus the area that touches the pad) and the rotors dont get all rusted up. But like any rotor, you will get rust from water, but just drive down the street and it will all be gone.

ask for Edder

They do not have a store show room. Mainly just a factorie that does mail order, but they allow local pick.

Cough cough I'll do them for you. Buy the parts, me install. I got to CSULB so its close. I would need to prep and get my tools from home. I do all the work on my Z and just installed brakes, coolant, 30k/60k, belts, etc....

Oh to answer you question, I bought rotors from r1concepts, front brake pads from mynismo.com. I installed rear pads from autozone just two weeks ago.
