X Pipe?

X Pipe?
I found it odd that there were no threads concerning X pipes. I tried searching for hks, x pipe, hks x pipe and nothing came up relating to x pipes at all. Obviously I have the hks and i wanted to know what kinds of x pipes are available. I read somewhere that the x pipe is better than the hks h pipe, in terms of flow and will produce a better sound, is this correct?

Y-pipe is a common replacement component for OEM exhaust. X-pipe is not.
Keep in mind that once you replace the OEM exhaust, there is no standard mid-pipe replacement. If you want to go X to H or H to X this is custom work.

Actually there are many threads discussing x pipes. Search magnaflow x pipe in the Intake/exhaust section. That seems to be the best fitting, sounding and power wise for our cars. Note: This will only work with true dual exhaust systems. I had one on my injen exhaust and wow was it a improvement. Brought a little VQ sound, restored low end tq, killed any rasp caused by test pipes.

i have the xo2 that sounded like **** with Resonated Test pipes!
Added a magnaflow X pipe to it(resonated) and that VQ sound that Freedonuts is talking about is back, I've had 5 or 6 different exhaust including ti-c,bassani,nismo, etc. and this Knock off gets the most compliments!!
im going to dyno my car on Monday so ill record some video clips so you can see what im talking about!

Just an FYI, the Magnaflow "X" Pipe, is actually a combination X Pipe and Perforated Core Muffler. It's not a "true" X-Pipe, which is essentially a 2-1 collector welded to another 2-1 collector, with the single sides connected.
The reason it quieted down the test pipes is because its also an additional muffler. The Magnaflow piece also has a good amount of muffler volume as well. Volume as in displacement, not decibels. The results with test pipes is not typical for all X-Pipes. A standard X-Pipe would probably have still kept the entire system fairly loud with test pipes.

Hey guys, i got bassani TD exhaust with Xpipe. Im running megan longtube headers and its way too loud and raspy for me. If i replace the xpipe with resonated magnaflow xpipe will it remove my rasp? How much am i looking at with the Xpipe and install? Dont want to switch exhaust if this can eliminate my rasp. Thanks

More than likely it will eliminate the rasp. Search. I think I saw a thread about a year ago where a member had the bassani and installed the magnaflow and it worked out great. Be sure to get the correct part number. I think its #11385. Not sure but its something like that. They have a 11386 for 2.5" piping.

Thanks for the pics and the vid. I'm definitely getting this as my Xmas gift to myself! CX Lighting/X02 is too loud with HFCs and headers. I want that VQ sound back. Plus I hear that this eliminates the ringing sound that you get at WOT and idle. I think they welded the resonators too close together.
So you got the 2.25 inlet/outlet muffler?

Got it installed today. The H-pipe inner diameter was pretty small compared to the total diameter of the pipe. Like a 2" pipe and only a 1/2" hole. Probably barely functional. The car feels good with the X muffler. Nothing lost for sure, probably no gain or a minimal gain. Sounds much better.

Let up too early. I'll try and get a real flyby video at another time.
