Default Tires Size For My 2004 Nissan 350Z

hi,

i have just bought new tires for my 2004 Nissan 350Z. The issues is that as you know the rear tires size are different from front ones as rear are 225/50/17 and front are 235/50/17. I couldn't find 235/50/17 i found 235/55/17 & 225/50/17 so i bought the 225/50/17. Is there any problem with that? I bought brand called Toyo

Thx

It depends - does your Z have TCS or VDC? Since your rears are the same OD as your fronts, you might have issues with TCS or VDC kicking in unexpectedly.

I think you're mixing up what size you have on front/rear....what you have listed there makes no sense.

Does your Z look something like this?

I think you might have tire rubbing issues.

235/55/17 & 225/50/17

This is not a combination that I world recommend, but if it works it works.

since there is more than a 3% increase in overall diameter bumping the rears up from 235/50/17 to 235/55/17, you may have issues with TCS/VDC. if you already have them on your car, drive around for a while doing lots of turns in a parking lot or something and see if you notice anything with the traction control kicking in. If so, you may need to try a different tire size for the rears.

So you are running 225/50/17 all around? Assume with 17 inch wheels you do NOT have VDC. Its OK the car will be fine.

The 55's will be an inch taller than the oe 50 series. May cause a rubbing/vdc issue.

I use 255/45/17 because i could not get the Goddyear F1's in the stock rear size.
The 255 will bulge out more but it didn't bother me very much. But this tire is MUCH closer to the stock diameter, which is what you should try to achieve

here is a pic to explain...

I would STAY AWAY form the 225/55/17 as the TCS will not be happy. You will need to disengage it everytime because it will kick in when you least expect and get rear eneded.(trust me on this one)

I hope you like oversteer because 225's on the rear of even a stock Z will create a more tail happy car.

they look cool but don't you think they will make the car a bit low specially for street bumps? specially here where i live there are a lot and the size i have makes it great on them otherwise; the grils erea will be damaged
