Someone tried to tell me it was dangerous to jumpstart and older car because our newer cars have more circuits or something crazy like that. They said I could blow a circuit. That isn't true in any way is it?

Pat (?) Goss on Motorweek recommends against jump starting these days and says you should use a portable battery pack instead... However, I didn't have one and I've jumped my 02 Maxima w/my Z a few times before. (Battery went bad on the Max... ) My cars are still ok AFAIK.

Pat Goss is a really educated man, but I cant listen to his show "Goss's Garage" because it is just one big B.G. Motors and General Motors commercial. I reamed a guest he had on that worked for Jeep and said he would buy a new GTO and even called them inexpensive. Among other things I told him that "$35,000 is not cheap". I also laughed at him for that pathetic "trail rated" bullsh!t that Jeep tried to pull ahaha weak

There is a particular order in which you hook up the jumper cables. It's when you don't follow the correct order that you can possibly cause electrical damage. As long as you follow the correct procedure there shouldn't be a problem. Check the owners manual.

I just jump-started my fiancee's '89 Honda Accord with my '03 Z.

It's not dangerous, you just need to hook it up correctly:

Hook them up in numerical order...

Booster car (my Z):
1. red to +
2. black to -

Dead car (Accord):
3. red to +
4. black to ground*

* Don't hook the black to the negative battery terminal. Ground the negative to a bare-metal bolt somewhere on the body. If you get a spark, it's a good connection.

Keep the Booster car running, and all should work out just fine.
