Nissan dealer is launching in South Korea soon, BUT they don't plan to sell 350z. Once the Nissan opens up, Samsung will move to Renault platforms and start producing the Renault vehicles under Samsung's badge. This is what I heard... and I think it is very logical for Renault to do that...

Their bumpers and small stuffs look different, but the engines and the entire interiors are identical. That's why I can get VQ engine parts cheap in Korea.. I just go to any Samsung dealers...

Teana and Maxima does look pretty similar. I had hard time telling the difference between the two. I believe sm5 had 2.5 liter and sm7 actually had vq35 motor.
hey dood out of curiousity, how much was it to get your Z registered in Korea?

you know passing emissions and smog is pretty easy in korea...hahaha...even passing the body test...ie taillights body kit etc..i had an FD fully tuned FULLY TUNED when i was in korea and every 6 months i would pay 150-200 bucks and it would pass...it always helps to take them out to dinner also! never could drive it on post tho...damn army!! it was fine tho...raced alot there...alot!! but if i can go there again i'm going to bring my Z...its not that bad for importation tax...yah yah roughly 35%...but 35% of 2000 dollars is what nothing...if you catch my drift...i'm going to bring a few cars with me if i can go again. matter of fact if anyone would like info on how to accomplish all this i will be more then happy to help and provide as much advice as possible...i have already done this so i got the knowledge and know how. still have contacts and companies in korea that can help quicken the process for you. and s15 and s14's in korea...yah..pricey...but it in japan then ship it...much cheaper if you know someone that wont rape you for there own benefit. if you need some teams to race with or contacts for the streets or shop knowledge or anything just let me know.

35% of $20,000+ $2000 shipping you mean? That's $7000... Wow, you must be balling if you think $7000 is nothing. Maybe you only had to pay 35% of $2000, because you are in the military, thus different tax system applies to you. But, we have to pay 35% import tax for the value of the vehicle+shipping. When I brought in my Z back in 2005, the total price including the price of the vehicle was $40,000. I basically spent $17,000 on tax, inspection and shipping. This is the reason why import vehicles are so expensive in Korea.

I heard that if you plan to live in Korea in short period of time(military or business), you don't have to pay the tax? but you have to pay if you are selling the car and other reasons...
also I have questions to all...
does 35% tax out from original purchase price or current price of my car. What if I say my car values only $10000?

I had orders to Korea few months back and I had gotten commander sponsorship (i'm enlisted). it wasn't hard at all to get but i did have to sign a document saying that i'll serve in korea for three years. it got cancelled for some lame reason. It would have been nice to bring my Z over there.

Well......some @$$hole keyed and scratched the entire passenger side of my car. They are deep scratches and I will need to repaint the car.
Does anyone know of a place I can take it here in Korea? I'm looking for professional paint job.....not just some random, simple, quick paint job.
I feel really sick to my stomach because of what somebody did to my car. I just don't understand people sometime. Why would someone want to do that?!?!?!
Please, if anyone knows a place I can take my car let me know.
