Monitoring specific police radar frequency
Have been using my new Escort 8500 for about a week now and have started to use the display option that shows the specific monitored radar frequency.
For those that have this radar detector... have you done the same??
I think I have noticed a 'signature' signal frequency that's specific to each radar gun.
For example... I was driving to the post office (mailing Insanmamine a check for a grounding kit) and coming from the opposite direction is a city cop running a frequency of 24.127. I know it was his signal because the detector is at a solid tone now. So.... after I stop by the office and am on the return trip home, I see the same cop sitting at the gas station. The detector goes off like crazy again and the same frequency is displayed.
Do you guys think the assumption that 'radar guns have a frequency signature' is valid??
I hope it's so.
I have started to document confirmed frequency readings and hope to use them in the future as a way to weed out false alarms.
My town is fairly small so it shouldn't be hard to compile an accurate list.
Thoughts???
