Default Purchased 2 10" Pioneer Subs, need help with finding an AMP

So I finally decided to upgrade my Bose system and I purchased 2 Pioneer Champion Series PRO Subwoofer. The Details are listed below.

Size: 10-Inch
Woofer Cone Material: Interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber Reinforced IMPP Cone
Surround: Wide-Roll, 3-Layer Fiber Woven Aramid Radial with Honeycomb Cloth
Voice Coil: Dual 4-Layer, Long Voice Coil
Voice Coil Wire: Copper
Voice Coil Bobbin: Phenol Resin Coated Glass Cloth
Magnet Construction: Double Stacked (88oz)
Basket Design: Aluminum Die-Cast Rigid Chassis
Gasket: 1-Piece ABS
Wire Terminals: Integrated Single-Sided Silver Compression Terminals
Watts MAX. Music Power: 3000 Watts
Watts Nominal Power Handling: 800 Watts
Frequency Response: 20 Hz to 150 Hz
Sensitivity: 89 dB
Ohm Rating: 1 or 4 ohm
Recommended Enclosure: 0.35 ~~ 0.7 Cubic Feet
Dimensions: 283.1 mm x 192.6 mm
Mounting Depth: 169.2 mm
Accessory Grill: UD-G258

As far as trying to match up the AMP with the subs, would a Mono AMP work better or a 2-channel amp work. There was information about running the subs in series or parallel, regardless of the number of channel amp you purchase. Wasn't sure if I should be looking for an AMP with around a 1600 Watt RMS power out put or could you go a little higher around 1800 watt RMS power.

Or you can go to crutchfield.com and chat with a live professional and he will give you the right amp.

By looking at the specs , it looks like you purchased 2- 2 ohm dvc drivers . The best thing to do is wire the coils in series , then the subs in parallel . Buy a TRUE 1000 watt mono amp (CEA-2006 compliant) , your amp will see a 2 ohm load and Each sub will be getting 500 watts which is perfect for the subs you have . On a side note sharpless 2 , if any of your buddies raz you about using Pioneer subs . We have sold over 400 Champion series Pioneer subs in the last 4 years . Can you guess how many have come back ? 1 yes that is ONE . They are almost indestructable , you can beat on them all day and they beg for more .

thanks for the relpies.

I went and talked to the crutchfield online tecs. He was pointing me towards getting two amps to power each one (not sure if he was just trying to boost his sales or what not) I could get the same amp on amazon for less than half of what their price was. He wasn't too helpful. Might just talk to the best buy geek squad and see if they match what the online rep was saying. My uncle's friend did a custom system in the back of my civic and knew his stuff. But then he had to move to Cali and not in touch with him any more.

First don't ask the geek squad unless you know someone who can vouch for the install crew, most of th time they don't know alot.
And you def don't need two amps, one 2 channel amp that car be bridged that is a quality amp and has decent wattage will do just fine. A good kicker, jl audio, Rockford , something along those lines. The higher the wattage u can afforded the better. You can never have too much power

If you don't know what your talking about , you shouldn't give advice . Most 2 channel amplifiers will not run 2 0hm in bridged mode , it will shut down . Look at the specs of the woofer . It clearly says , it can be wired for 1 ohm or 4 ohm . That means they have to be 2 0hm Dvc subs . I already told you to buy a good MONO amp (Cea-2006 compliant) 1000-1200 Rms . Wire the coils in series and the subs in Parallel for a 2 ohm load . This is the best way to do it PERIOD . Why would you have to ask anyone else ????? Hook it up like this , Jeez it's not rocket science .

Sharpless2
Expect to pay at bare minimum $300.00 for a new 1000w mono amp that is CEA compliant . Alpine has one for aroubd $319.00 on ebay . Or you could jump up in power to the $400.00 - $500.00 range and get a Good Kicker , Alpine , Mtx , Sundown , Rockford etc . Remember , if an amplifier is not CEA-2006 compliant , the manufacturer can put any power numbers on the amp they want . How do you think you can buy a new 2000w amplifier for $150.00 on ebay ? Because the numbers are bogus . Get the power and signal to noise ratio your paying for and get a compliant amplifier . It will either say CEA-2006
compliant in the amps description , or it will have the Cea logo(below) on the box.

Turboroadster,

thanks for the info. what are your thoughts on Kenwood? I had one in my previous system (2 Pioneer 12's) that did the job).

I think the last rep on crutchfiel helped answer my questions better than the first one from the other day.

I think the best match would be the Rockford Fosgate Power T1500-1BDCP 1500 watt mono amplifier, so each sub would be getting 750 out of the 800 watt rms power. Only downfall to this would be the price. Amp is $750.00.

How much of a difference would it make to find the next step down and get a 1200 wattt (600 RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) or even one that provides 500 RMS a piece. The price drops down a few hunder $$$ around 400-500.00 which I can see spending.

Never been a fan of Kenwood unless your talking 1980's into the mid 90's . Installed a bunch of 800w x1 Kenwoods , driving 2 champion series 12" subs . It was very loud but the Kenwood amps , would always shut down (thermal overload) after about 4-5 straight songs at high volume level . I've always loved MTX's Thunder line of amplifiers . Look at the MTX TE1501D (1500w x 1)
$420.00 on Ebay . Or the Alpine I mentioned earlier is a great bargain at $319.00 Ebay (1000w x1), both are CEA-2006 compliant .

There are a couple Alpine MRX-M110 on ebay for $279.99 Free shipping . That is a very good deal , (1100w x 1 @ 2 ohm ).
