Default How common is it to install aftermarket subs in the BOSE sub location?

Hey everyone,

So I'm working on getting a complete make over of my cars head-unit and sound system. I'm not one to have all my speakers shown off in boxes and take up unnecessary space. I'm one that just wants great quality sound coming from speakers that are not noticeable. I'm looking at JL-Audio as my speakers of choice and wondered how common is it really to place aftermarket subwoofers into the subwoofer box that Nissan has already had cut out for the Z. I have a base model Z so basically I just have a bracket to mount the speakers. Long story short I just want to slap a speaker onto the mount, add some insulation in all the places that it needs it, then put that BOSE cover over it and hope that it fits and won't rattle. Is this commonly done? Thoughts and comments.

Thanks,
