Just traded in my 2006 Dodge Dakota for a 2003 Z Touring.

So far loving the Z, So much that sometimes I just drive it. Anyway...
I feel like the radio has an extremely weak signal. Places that use to not cause me any issues now are almost complete static when I try to tune in.

I tried using the search on this forum but nothing came up. It could be because I'm not doing it right.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is it the actual radio or the antenna?

Are there upgraded antennas for more signal?

There's an antenna amplifier involved in the system. If you have an aftermarket radio, I'd bet it's not wired correctly.

The z has always had a weaker signal compared to other cars I've owned. We need more info though. Stock radio or aftermarket? Bose system or base? And mods to your electrical or exterior? IE shaved exterior?

Has an aftermarket remote starter. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I didn't know people still listened to FM radio....

If you're that worried about it I'm sure you can get a bigger antenna off of something else to fit, but you'll look like a RC car.

Research the antenna assembly - it's all in the trunk and you may have a loose connection.

Theres a ground in your trunk that goes to the antenna assembly. Check that, and if you have a aftermarket double din then check the ground behind it as well.

If all the connections are good and the antenna amp is working properly, my reply is his only option other than finding a new station to listen to, not driving into the dead zone, or moving on to other forms of music.

All the replies concerning an aftermarket radio are more useless than mine. He said he has the factory BOSE system.

OP Im pretty sure its a common issue.
I bought my Z with a shorty antenna and had little radio reception. Now I have a full aftermarket setup and I have absolutely no radio reception

FWIW I turned on my FM radio on the way to lunch since I didn't ride the bike today.

Even with my shorty dodge antenna I got perfect reception on every station I used to listen to before the invention of USB drives and Bluetooth.

He doesn’t need a new antenna. The problem is likely a faulty ground. Hopefully he will report back here when he finds the fix.

i have 2008 z not the bose unit but the basic stock head unit. I am having the exact same issue. I have been searching everywhere to solve this and can't find anything. I have everything connected correctly into the head unit and antenna. Where you ever able to figure it out?
