New Kenwood HU Sucks. Why?
Hey all, 2nd post here and I have used the search bar, but to no avail have I found the solution to my problem. So I recently bought a Kenwood DDX271 (I believe. Its a double din Kenwood.) and had it professionally installed yesterday. The same people installed my other HU in my old Nissan truck and it was a night and day difference over the stock HU. However, the new unit BLOWS. I do have factory B(l)ose, and I bought the new HU hoping I'd be able to hook my iPhone up without and FM tuner, and the sub would sound much better also. The audio isnt near as loud as the factory head unit would produce, and the sub sounds like it is BARELY working. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks in advance.

Bose system runs at 2-ohms. Most other systems, including your new HU run at 4-ohms. You will have to upgrade your speakers as well.

Directly from the Kenwood site: only 4-8ohm for your particular HU
Scrap the Bose stuff and work from the ground up.

You don't have to replace your whole Bose system. But the installer should have know that you need this:
To properly match the Kenwood to the crap Bose amps. I installed a Kenwood HU and the PAC interface and didn't have any volume issues. Then I installed a good set of RF components in the doors and it sounds great now.

It is an option, but read reviews about sound quality issues others have had before going that route.

I have the DDX470 and had no issues running the stock speakers. It sounds a lot louder than before and better SQ.
Check the settings in the radio and make sure its set to all 4 speakers in bluetooth. For a few weeks I had the same issue of my radio not being loud enough, and sure enough theres a stupid setting that only runs audio to front speakers.
Also, I didnt use the PAC harness. Im using the regular Metra harness that Crutchfield threw in with my purchase and all speakers including the sub work and sound great. The sub hits and I didnt have to wire anything special for it.
But yeah look into new front speakers. $60 can go a long way there. The build quality of the OE Bose is trash.

Are all Nissan speakers 2ohm or just Bose?
A front speaker went out on my GF's '05 Altima and I replaced it with my Bose and it worked fine.
Build quality on her speakers was WAY better than the Bose though. Plastic cone with foam surround and Bose is paper cone with cloth surround.
