I've driven my Z from Oklahoma down to Atlanta GA then up to my grandparents house in South Carolina. It is a wonderful road trip car.

Look what showed up today !

Budget System has begun

Now the question is... Where is the easiest place to tap for a 12v and ground?

Any one have a wiring diagram/voltages for the 06 bose system?

Nosir. I got the adapter harness and put an aftermarket head unit in.

I would probably tap into the cigarette lighter. It's not too far away and the wiring will be really easy to run/hide.

Thats what i was thinking, cigarette lighter or find something on the head unit.

I had no clue they even made those factory amp integration kits for aftermarket headunits. Still not ready to drop 100+ on a head unit. lol

I replaced everything that was required to make sound. Stock equipment sucks. The only stock part of the radio in my car is the harness up to the aftermarket adapter. All new speaker wire, all new speakers, all new amps and all new subs.

:O must be nice.

The system I had in one of my cars a couple years ago was beautiful. ended up spending like 1k total. All new headunit/ door+deck pioneer speakers, single 12 inch rockford fosgate. Miss that car.

I went one better... I replaced the antenna too

You can do a decent system for around $1K. As long as you don't need crazy loud (been there done that) and don't get sucker into Monster Cable(TM) like rip offs.

I have swapped head units around more than anything. I currently have a Pioneer double din, Audiocontrol epicenter, Audiocontrol DQT with remote, Sundown SAZ1000D, Sundown SAX100.4, SHOK Industries wiring, Rainbow SLC 265.25NG comp set and 2x Soundsplinter RL-i 10"s in a ported box that I can't remember the specs on. I think it's tuned to 34hz.

I also have Second Skin dapmlifier pro in the doors and hatch, a Batcap 800 under the amp rack and a Dodge Avenger antenna.

The H/U is the only thing I paid full price for too.

It's nice to have sponsors.

Ohhhhhhhh that is one of those products I've lusted after for awhile I've got Alpine's Imprint system which is pretty decent (awesome sound stage) but its an all or nothing deal... once activated the radio's EQ is disabled leaving only basic bass/treble/sub controls

I had an Epicenter but removed it, I don't think the new ones are good as the old ones that had fixed frequencies. No matter what settings I used the bass just sounded hollow and flat, very fake and over processed, where as before it made the earth shake with serious rubble.

I have one of the old ones. I never use it though. It just sits there.

Have you ever done an A/B comparison of the two models? I wonder if other people notice the differences, or if its just me looking at the past thru rose colored glasses.

I have not. I picked it up used, use it for a little then turned it down and haven't turned it up in months. I save it for when I listen to oldies and some other stuff that needs just a little help.

Step 1 Audio System:

Hey all,

Just got done wiring up some new additions. I Spliced in an FM Wired Modulator today, and wired in power for my Galaxy Tablet. Check out the Pics

And So it begins.. Time to find a 12v ignition wire .

Found the 12v ignition wire.. Green/white is 12v when accessory is on, turns off when the car is off.. The thick yellow was constant 12v. There is Absolutely no information on the internet for the 06 bose confirming which wire was 12v accessory. So here is my contribution to the Internets.

Spliced in the positive 12v from the FM mod on the Green/white wire to the head unit.

The shitty internals of the Wired FM modulator (25$ on ebay) I suggest not to buy these, wiggling the two black wires for the antenna result in static. :/

Fm Modulator Velcro'd to the top of the stock Bose head unit. Just enough room.

New purpose for the cubby hole!

The Samsung Galaxy tablet I have fits very nicely in the cubby whole. It's currently sitting just wedged in there.. it survived the slalom, hard break, and acceleration tests just fine

This setup is for the time being! FM modulator isn't the best quality, will be swapping out for a new head-unit w/ Bluetooth shortly. Just got the car a few weeks ago so needed something for the tunes

Next addition will be a 10 inch alpine type S 2ohm.
