What radar detector do you use?

I haven't used one in 15 years. Last speeding ticket I got was 2004, and I haven't changed how I drive in that time. Only how I think.
Once you understand how radar works, you'll realize there are only certain places cops can actually hide to get an accurate reading. Curves and hills are their two primary hiding spots. Sometimes on the back side of on-ramps or in the shadows under bridges. Pay attention to your surroundings (incidentally, paying attention to your surroundings also makes you a safer driver), focus your attention well ahead of you, stay near a pack of cars, and 99.3% of the time you will see the cop before he will see you. Watch for people well ahead of you braking for seemingly no reason. They're braking for a reason. They can probably see something you can't.
If you're by yourself on the highway, drive near the speed limit. No radar detector in the world will save you when you're alone because you're the first thing he locks onto.
It's always better to use other drivers as bait. Find someone going near your speed and sit 100 yards behind him.

I have to admit if someone goes flying past me and I'm in town or on my work commute I'll usually speed up a little. I tell them to go ahead and find the cops for me. I'll be safe right here.
Daily driving my MPG is going to be crap because half of it is in town. I filled up last night and got 18mpg. But I had more idle time than usual, it had been about a month since I filled up last and I played around a lot.

They are illegal where I live now so I don't use one. They were legal where I used to live and I didn't use one. Both places have/had plenty of tracks with cheap open lapping days or amateur circuits where that kind driving is safe and encouraged. It doesn't seem fair to the other people on the road who just want to get where they're going without having to contend with a speeder. Not trying to grandstand but at least at the track everybody out there has the same mindset, expects a certain style of driving and accepts the risks involved. When it comes to highway driving I try to join up with the fastest group of cars aka follow the natural flow of traffic. Cops usually don't bother with the natural flow unless it's some ridiculous speed.
