Default Audio Help Please

So I've come across a few thread highlighting the problem with the stock audio cutting out. It's very annoying. I tried that thing with the amp wherein we reinforce the connection in the amp no luck there.

I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to my question (over a week reading and looking here and other online sources)

In my findings I see some information that give me concern.
Normally, I'd run my wires to an aftermarket amp by running a ground in the trunk (wherever the amp is mounted), have the power off the battery run to back, and run the speaker & remote wires from the HU to the amp. (Being very general).

Is this the same general principle or is there something special with our Z's that I would have to do to run an aftermarket amp and speakers.

You see I still want the stock speakers minus the stock and and sub. Is that possible. From What I see we have to replace the entire audio system. In other words can I just install a new amp to run 2 12' subs w/o rewiring everything

You can google the pinout for the stock amp and run the speaker wires from your amp right off that connector(you can even grab power there also if you like) This is how I did it rather than running all new wires(I did run a new power wire and remote from HU)

I re-read that and it's kind of confusing, but it's the best I can do

Thanks iideadeyeii. I'm going to look that up. This stock thing they call an amp is really getting on my nerves with the base dropping out. I don't even want to do this to show off or have a system. I just like to feel the base while I'm riding and it helps keep me awake late night.

Thanks again

I think I found a temp to perm fix:

This video opens the sub amp and shows you exactly where to apply pressure. I'm gong to try this first. Its looks easy and I'm lazy. Which is why I haven't modded this car yet.
