Alpine ilx-007 Carplay
Just installed the Alpine ilx-007 in my 2005 Nissan 350z. Originally had the Bose plus Nav System. I removed the Nav system and had it replaced with a cubby. Kept the Bose Amps and Speakers. The Mic placement is right on the steering column facing the driver. Sound quality is pretty good. Haven't tried with top down yet though.
AUX, i have a 3.5 going to the center box and had a USB port installed there too. This is a video aux in so I am using a 5th generation video iPod. The sound and video quality are excellent.
CarPlay works very well. Maps are working well and are providing accurate directions.
Apple Music is good although I had to compare this with Spotify and opted for Spotify in the end. Purchased the premium for the better sound and there is a remarkable difference.
Text Messaging with Siri works for the most part. There are times when I have to redo the message.
Phone calls are fine.
The Siri button on the front panel is mainly used but I can say Hey Siri and the mic on the phone will pick it up even though I close the cubby door.
If you have any questions about this system let me know.

Spotify
With any of the apps, I have found that if I don't have a good cell signal they won't load.
When I have a good signal that load fast and have no issues. I purchased Spotify premium and the sound quality is so much better.
97% of the time success. If a percentage helps.

Do you have any pics of it installed? I see you're utilizing the AUX; however, I am wondering how/where you routed the lighting cable from the HU that links the iPhone to the HU (unless you didn't).

Cubby has female USB connected to Alpine. You can attach the Lightning cable here to connect to your phone.
Middle storage area. Two USB connectors plus AV wire for AUX. I connect a Video iPod and can watch movies or listen to my music library.
Middle Cubby.
I place the phone in the cubby and close it while driving.

Were there any options available to remedy the fitment issues? The corners don't sit flush and look uneven with the bevel. I will 100% pass on this if I can't get the deck to sit flush, haha.

Will the Alpine Ilx-007 fit in the upper cubby space? I have an 04 non-nav cubby FYI. I've read threads about fitting other 7" screens there if you remove the cubby backing but I haven't found anything on this system. If I need to buy a cubby from a different year or from a model with stock-nav that is fine.
