Anyone fitted a Sony MEX-1HD head unit?
Hi all,
My Zed coupe (with GT pack, which includes the Bose system) is due at the end of May.
I have a Sony MEX-1HD head unit (the one with the built in hard drive) in my current car.
Because most of my music collection is saved on the hard drive in the head unit, I want to transplant the Sony HU into the Zed.
I wanted the GT pack for the leather seats and cruise control, but it also comes with the Bose system, which, otherwise I wouldn't have specified.
Anyway, any idea of my best option to fit the Sony unit in the car?
From what I've picked up here, and on other forums:
1. I can't just swap out the head unit - the Bose speakers aren't compatible.
2. I could use an FM modulator to radio link my Sony to the Bose, but FM modulators don't seem to be well advised on here.
I don't want to fit the Sony head unit in a rear cubby, because you need to be able to see it and use the ***** to select tracks from the library.
I really don't want to rip everything out and start again.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance...
Rich

Replace the Bose with your Sony, and put new speakers in (It's the Bose speakers whicha re non-industry standard impedance). You shall lose the steering wheel volume control though.

Thank you mikeef
Guess that's my only or best option.
As the car is still quite new in the UK (there's only a few going around in Edinburgh) my local ICE specialist hasn't done an ICE upgrade or change on a 350Z yet.
Hopefully it won't be too taxing for them....
