Default BOSE...system goes bye bye...

well, I decided to chuck the bose. I'm keeping the hu. I have already dynamated the entire car. bought 2 bulk packs for 72 square feet for $200 bucks. Installing it was cake just time consuming.

Im installing my art series PPI amps 404 and 202 amps. I couldnt get them to fit anyway good so im putting them on the rack space in front of the tower bar behind rear speakers. I decided to go with a JL audio 10w6 in the factory spot. I sealed it with tons of dynamat. I put 2 61/1 mb quarts ing the rear speaker spots with crossovers. In the doors im going with componet speakers. Qseries 218 61/2 with tweeters. only cost $290

I went nuts with the wiring cost $150 for amp kit and rcas (phoenix gold)

Total parts about $750. Im paying a installer on the side to do the wiring.

work in progress. done at my apt garage no loss of vehical time.

dynamat mostly done, rear speakers and sub installed. gonna do a test run on sound for the sub tonight.

If I like then we will finish it. waiting on recieveing the componet speakers. doors will be done last.

I know this isnt a super mega custom job...but I know it will sound tons better thant the factory blows system and for less than $1000 im on the super saver program.

IM also changing my switch for my nav-tv to the dead switch next to the VDC.

(Boy isnt it fun to drive around in a stipped Z covered in dynamat.)

Total audio mods to date.

Nav-tv mod
clarion vs715 dvd player (in factory slot next to nav dvd player)
clarion fm200 rf modulatror
Q series 218 MB Quart componets for the factory door spots
mb quart 2way 6 1/2 in the rears
JL audio 10w6 in stock spot
Precision Power Art series 404/202 amps (mounted behind rear speakers in the hatch)

$1000 for stereo mod
$1000 for nav-tv mod with dvd player

Total cost $2000

If I payed retail.
$1600 nav-tv mod w/ dvd player
$2700 stereo parts and install

Total savings $2300

Since im doing these mods I also ordered the LED markers from strickly z.

I can't wait till its finished.

Oh yeah forgot.....my clarion dvd player has been shipped for a defect to clarion to get fixed...the door speakers (q series mb quarts) will be here in a week or so.

and if you ask....im running 4 channels at 100 watts rms...and 200 watts rms for the jl 10w6 old school sub. I know what the sub sounded like in my old jlaudio banpass box...so we will hear soon what the sup sounds like in a 2 layer dynamat inclosure....The area could be totally seald except where the seat belt was...so looks like its a ported enclosure.

All I can say is... AMAZING. Great dynomating Job, Great set of amp/speaker you've chosen. Sound should be awesome.

I really want to put 10' aftermarket sub in stock bose amp location but the install guy I talked to didn't really recommend that setup since it can interfere rear speaker frequency and the space is too small. As soon as you reiceved your car, can you post your impression with the sub setup?

well...we were gonna do a super custom job like nizl....this guy will do anthing..and wanted to go custome like nizl....but i wanted stealth...

I will see how it sounds. If it doesnt sound good enough, I'll make changes. my jl 10w6 sits in there fine.

the pics I took is while he is working outside now. He takes his time bsing with me...but he does a clean job. He fixes bad installs from local car shops intown so its looking good.

I gotta run the factory fronts till my q series gets here...but im more worried how the bass will sound. I will hear it in a few minutes. I.ll take more pics soon and post em.

Like I said work in progress...hes working out of my apt garage and its pretty cold out hes a real trooper.

my installer Paul thinks this will fit fine.

We had to turn the bass gain down because I like my kidneys where they were and the sub started to clip.

It sounds good....its not as tight as it was in the bandpass box...my opinion is that its because of the bose amp...the sub is getting the full range of frequancy of lows.

it hits very good though...no rattles besides my teeth. The rear quarts absolutly scream....the fronts are still bose...they sound 10000000000 times better...but the quarts over power em.

.....cant wait for the q series components.....they will hang with the rears.

this $1000 fix....sounds amazing compared to the bose.....FUNNY thing is that we tested the speakers for about 2 minutes because its 3 am.....the COPS showed up and said there was a noise complaint.....

HEE HEE.....

as soon as the other parts get there we can finally adjust everything and have a finish install.

very happy with it.
