Default DIY - XBOX install on OEM NAVIGATION!

I am currently embarking on this.

First off you need a switch box to be able to switch between nav disc to aux input. check out http://www.tvandnav2go.com/ to purchase their unit.

it cost 200 bucks for non-plug and play - ie 4 wires need to be cut and spliced in.

or 250 for plug and play version.

Also, then you need aux imput for secondary signal - example - im using an Xbox in the glove box behind the passenger seat. I ran 8 gage wiring and installed a power inverter in there to power it.

HEre is where i got my info. follow this site:
http://home.comcast.net/~jcage89/navbox/

You do however need to mod the x box inorder to play dvd's on xbox. i choose the x box because i plan on modding the Harddrive to a huge one to have movies and mp3's, and windows media files on it saved and easy access. the mod chip you need is: SmartXX v3.0 mod chip with the Xapt3r for about $74 - see www.mod-chip.com

NExt you need The XBMC:

update: mod xbox at www.xmodder.com
he uses DouX2 chip and he installs XBMC along with a ton of games and apps.

kaybee650,

the only problem with the adapter they sell is that it is IR. and the xbox is not in front of me. i would have to point the remote they sell back toward the xbox and hope it can zap through the passenger seat and through the glove box door.

Also, i grounded the xbox to the car frame near the speakers as well.
i got another wire and soldered that suckr straight to the tin on the inside of the xbox and ran an additional ground. I found that you really need to do this to eliminate all the feed from the screen.

the most critical thing is buying/purchasing a really good power inverter. I think im gonna play with a couple more to be sure i have a good clean noise free inverter.

well, my intent is for when im in the car waiting when it comes to video games. many of us with a gf/fiance/woman etc are often waiting in the car!

as for me, im more interested in having it for movies when on long trips for my passenger. many times i find my passengers/gf/fiance/woman using the portable dvd player on their lap.

Default Sound:

SOUND:
Right now i got the RED and WHITE RCA wires from the x box and bought adapters that converted RCA to a 3.5 mm jack. then i got a coupler and connected it to a tape that i shove in the tape player in my factory head unit. an XM one i have laying around.

This is a very temporary fix. i plan on purchasing a unit from pac-audio that attaches to the back of the factory head unit and uses the SAT interface on the head unit.

www.pac-audio.com part number - AAI-NIS2 which cost like $100 on ebay to handle the sound.

UPDATE: I Got the pac device and makes this nice!

Default Question?

okay, i think im done. comments, etc. IM not a fan of the " i dont get it comment" why play games, la, la, la..."to each their own" i say.

so please refrain from those type. IM looking for how others have attempted or done this mod. and comments/questions on my current set up. I would like to say im here to help anyone else also attempting this mod.

thanks,
Jason!

Very cool Jason. Should have done it with a 360 though

If you want to make this thing idiot proof, I suggest you make the write up a bit more organized, ie. provide a comprehensive list of materials/tools needed, individual prices, and numbered steps accompanied with pictures. I was able to follow it well, but I have experience with hooking up my own electronics in the car (not any gaming systems though).

Default Mega Update. Nearly complete!

Ok so i kinda fell off this mod for a bit, but now its nearly all done.

I sent my Xbox1 to a modder in Austin Texas who i highly recommend. His name is Terry at www.xmodder.com . All you do is fedex your xbox along with the harddrive of your choice. I bought a 160 gig harddrive for about 50 bucks. He then installs the harddrive, mods the xbox and installs a ton of emulators and nearly every game made for everysystem ever made. so its worth it. Then he fedex's your Xbox back to you.

I had to buy an IDE extension cable of 18 inches long with one male and one female connection in order to get the ide cable length needed to relocate the xbox dvd player to the cupholder cubby for easy access.

I but the IDE extension cable from: http://cablesonline.stores.yahoo.net/240pinidedir.html

on their web site it only lets you choose up to 14 inches but i called them and ordered 18 inches and they did it no problem.
