I think I know where my test cd is, when I moved I packed it away and put it in one of those self storage places with a bunch of my stuff. So this weekend I will go over there and try to find it. It has sine waves broken down in 10Hz increments iirc. I will post up my findings of how deep this thing goes.
As far as listening to it, it seems to hit a couple notes that my Diamond D610 had too much roll off to reproduce. Now this could be just because this has a sensitivity of 92dB (versus the 80-something of the Diamond) or it could be because it really does reach down lower. Either way I am pretty impressed. And I am not just some new kid coming into car audio, I admittedly haven't heard EVERY sub out there, but I've heard my share......and owned more than my share. And this thing overall has been great for the past week.
As for the front stage......I will probably be ordering the Seas H1189 tweets today. I'm really torn on the woofers. I have been doing so much research on the woofers that I think I have confused myself on what I should get. I've even given thought to a pretty untraditional setup just to see if I can pull it off. And I see ScanSpeak is coming out with a new Illuminator line........
And the headunit/processor. I really want to wait for the new Pioneer deh-p800prs (basically the 880prs but in all black), but Pioneer support told me it won't be hitting stores until the end of March....not sure I can wait that long. The silver face was the entire reason I hated the p880.
I'd love to see pics and details on your install!!!!!! Especially that rebadged denon head.

If anyone local wants to check out the sub and listen to it, I'd be happy to try to meet up with you. I hope to get up to Z1 sometime soon to check out Kwame's and Adam's cars soon. Hopefully they can provide some feedback on my setup as well.
Ken.

look forward to hearing it....good to see some more options for a compact efficient sub that doesn't need a ginormous enclosure!
that's what drew me to my Lotus 10 inch as well...tiny enclosure needs and high on the sensitivity.
Where did you end up putting the tweets?

OK, I got my sound level meter and my test disc and set all of my settings to "0" and went to a flat EQ setting. Took measurements and it is UGLY! I have to tweak my amp gains and play with the EQ, but the weather out here in NJ hasn't been cooperating the past few days. Hopefully I can get some tuning time in this weekend.
Here's the UNTUNED graph:
As a base, White Noise measured 88dB

Any specific reason you didn't use pink noise for the test signal? I looked into this when I was studying up to get a correct RTA reading and this article caught my eye.

Specifically, this part:
I don't know how significant the change in the response will be, but using pink noise may cut down your 5kHz-10kHz frequencies enough that you don't have to cut those frequencies as much as you would have with a white noise reading. In other words, it may not be as bad as your initial graph suggests. I do think you're going to need to cut those sub frequencies no matter what though lol
Good stuff!

However, in terms of frequencies the difference between 100 Hz and 200 Hz is only 100 Hz, whereas the difference between 5,000 Hz and 10,000 Hz is 5,000 Hz. The relative relationship is the same, but the actual difference mathematically is quite substantial. With white noise there is a ton more energy in-between 5 kHz and 10 kHz compared to between 100 Hz and 200 Hz because it spans a wider range of frequencies and they all contribute to the overall level per octave. The whole point of pink noise is to distribute the energy according to how we hear. So the pink noise energy between 100 Hz and 200 Hz is the same as between 5,000 Hz and 10,000 Hz. Equal energy per octave.
Good stuff!

I was using the white noise just as a baseline so when I retest after tuning, I can adjust the volume to the same dB level with the same white noise signal. I don't use the actual white noise to test. I have a test tone CD that has a tone at each of the Hz increments labeled on the graph. I play the test tone and take a level reading with my dB meter. It's a slightly cheesier way than using an RTA, but I don't have an RTA at my house. I do have a dB meter though.
EDIT:
Dang!!! I just remembered that I cut the tweets by -2 on the passives.......I never put them back to -0-. I'll just consider that in the tuning phase if this rain ever lets up.

OK, just a quick update. I know I've fallen behind on this, but a LOT has been going on in my personal life right now.
I have made up my mind on the equipment
Headunit: Eclipse CD7200 MkII
Tweeters: LPG 25NFA - driven by Eclipse XA2000
Mids: Peerless Exclusive 830883 7" woofer - driven by Eclipse XA2000
Sub: Tymphany LAT500 - driven by Eclipse XA1000
Components mounted in custom kicks, sub in an under strut Zenclosures box.
Then I need to figure out how to patch the screw holes in my doors from the door pods.
I was having some trouble in the lower freq's trying to get a flat response. Today, Cindy from Madisound contacted me to explain that they sent me a 16ohm/voice coil LAT500 instead of the 8ohm/voice coil unit. This is doing two things......
1) I am not using very much amp power (only about 1/2 if what I thought I was pushing)
2) The T&S parameter values are thrown off, so this LAT500 isn't going to perform the same as the correct one would. This might be contributing to my hard time in tuning.
This is great news. I though the LAT500 that I had was pretty loud with a good amount of output running at 8ohms with 160 rms watts.....I can't wait to hear what the correct unit will sound like at 4ohms with 320 watts rms. Big props to Madisound for taking the initiative in their mistake and taking corrective action.
I am about to place my order for the tweets and mids. Then I will purchase the headunit and 2nd XA2000 amp.

Well, the dual 8ohm v/c LAT arrived Friday via UPS. Looks exactly the same. The number on the sticker that might be some kind of model number is different, but still no markings that it was dual 8ohm as opposed to dual 16ohm.
Dropped the new unit in and I can definitely tell a difference. This unit seems to dig a little deeper and I had to back the gain off the amp a click.
