Install - And we are off...
Well after the decision to give my kenwood dnx7100 some company was made I had lots to do.
1) Find what amps, wubs, components I want (within reasonable budget)
2) decide if I wanted to do somethign custom myself or have soemnone else do it. If i didn't go custom I would be lookin at zenclosres prefab stuff. (BTW i have a good bit install and fiberglass experience - not pro just experience )
SO here it goes.
First i get my amp in and its HUUUUGE and im exhausted from work.
Elemental Designs Nine.5
Well the amp will put out over 1000 watts and peak prob around 1500 so 0 ga is needed but luckily it accepts 0 ga wire. Now if u never ran 0 ga its super thick and harder to run. Its over a 1/2" in diameter. SO here we go.
SO im running this amp to the rear and plan on putting my subs back there somewhere. Well Edead came to mind so that was done... (BTW this helped the exhaust noise sooo much in the cabin)

Now to figure out where to put the amp after a quick test to make sure it survived shipping OK. Decided to do something a little different but no too extreme. Was gonna do fiberglass and something alot harder but decided to take it easy and maybe next time. Well a amp rack first off would be good. SO i get to work.
JDM tools FTW!
Simple square amp box
Decided to test some colors against the amp to see what eventually i will paint it in there. Silver seemed like a nice contrast.
Well after fitting it. Its way to tall and wide.Oh noes. I spent another 3 hrs modifing peices of this one. But ultimately its a FAIL.

Well next day decided to rethink it and get out there with cardboard and make templates (which I've should have done to start with but forgot - hey its been a few years since I've done any audio stuff). After a trip to home depot for more MDF which btw is 1/2" for amp rack. I came up with this modified version.
Now to test in the car.... PLZ fit PLZ fit PLZ fit...
YES!!! moar pics...
Well so I decided to stop here today. Waiting on my 2 subs to come in and other parts that u will see in good time. Prob wont get a chance to work on this again till next weekend. I'll update then. For now i need to shop for more peices of my system.
