Hey guys I'm new to my 03' 350z touring and it came with the Bose system cause its a touring edition but I wanna replace the sub and amp and maybe the speakers but wanna stay under $500. any ideas on what equipment to get?

$500 may not be able to to replace your whole system, however you can certainly purchase a single din stereo, component speakers (6.5") for up front and a 2 channel amp to power them and a wiring kit. If you just want to replace the sub and amp but leave the factory stereo, youll need a line out converter (which typically does not provide great sq, i know because i originally had one before i replaced my stereo), a new amp, subwoofer (10 inch is prob the most preferred) and wiring kit. Theres tons of other info/reviews of products and such you can find by searching the forum. Hope this gets you started

dont cheap out a good amp wire kit is 1/5th of ur spending that leaves you 400 a nice clean box is about 100 now you have 300. nice set of components for the front and the mdf adaptors figure those are like 170 together. now you have 130 and still need subs/subs , amps or 1 amp depending on what u want and a head unit. my advice save some money shop around figure out what you want and start buying in pieces.

What type of music do you listen to?

If I were you, I'd be looking for a 4 channel amplifier. There is a $150 used massive audio nx4 for sale on a forum where they diy their mobile audio... you can get a 4 gauge jl audio amp kit for 60. i would bridge the rear channels of the amp to a tidal audio oem 10. they are 70 bucks, if you can find one... of course you'll need a box, $100, for that zenclosures is nice. for front components i would look at cadence cwm-6kit, 60 shipped. you don't need mdf adapters if you cut the cone out of your stock speakers. a single din can be had cheaply used, maybe $100. just try to find one with at least 4v preouts. i also suggest you sound deaden at least your doors, if you don't, you'll have lots of rattles. check out raamat.

all of this comes to $540 plus however much sound deadening you would choose to do. figure probably another 90 for that, so thats 630. i wouldn't suggest spending any less. remember, it doesn't all need to be done at once.

If you ask me, you just told him to get the cheapest stuff possible. Big no in my book. OP save up like mentioned because if you spend 500 now on crap, then you will replace it all when you want a good system.

thats what im saying go 0 gauge the first time that way your not spending even more when you wanna upgrade the mdf rings are so you can put it back to stock and not spend more money

My vote is for saving up. You might want to look into replacing the stock HU. May be more useful since you can add on a ton of stuff like bluetooth, aux, ipod, navi, etc... May even make your system sound better too.

hey, i'm all for saving up too! I cut no corners on my full active setup the op didnt ask how much he should save up, he asked what is recommended for his budget, which i admittedly overshot. i didn't list the cheapest stuff i could find, everything comes well recommended.

it doesn't seem like the op is an audiophile and this equipment, installed correctly, would satisfy most listeners.
