Default Simple audio upgrade? Bose system

Ive got an 05 touring with the 7-speaker Bose system. It truly is an unimpressive system. I have an old inexpensive Kenwood (HD552U) head unit I reclaimed from my old Ranger I was planning on installing. After digging around it seems that the head swap won't quite be enough. While digging, all I could find were full amp, speaker sub upgrades. Anything simpler out there? My main concern is that I don't want to be stripping down the inside of my car to have to fit things in.

I would love to do a strut-sub system, but don't have the money nor time to work towards such an install anytime soon.

Any recommendations? I just want to have a good clean system. I love punchy bass and sound that will wake the dead, but I'm more concerned for quality at the given time.

Thanks for any help! Even if you don't have advice on the cleanest simplest OEM install path kind of system, a simple no strip sub and amp system advice will also be appreciated.

you will need to rewire everything to bypass the bose amps and replace the bose speakers that run at a lower ohm level than aftermarket stuff. its not super hard, but not really easy either.

The other thing I found as Ive searched is using the PAC adapter to connect the HU. I also found some "oem" kicker speaker sets to swap? Sound like its worth the extra $100 since Im trying to avoid the heavy modding.

I'm right there with you. I wonder if there are any front or rear speakers or sub that I could try with the stock Bose system to see if it helps -speakers that would still work with a new HU if I decide to go that route.
I can't believe after driving an Altima for the last few years, that Nissan put such a bad sounding stereo in one of their more expensive cars. Any speaker recommendations or is that just a bad idea?

I took the wires right in the trunk off the amp that goes to the speakers and brought them to my amp.

All I did was use the pac adapter to use and aftermarket HU then ran all the stuff for the zenclosure with a 10" kicker l5 so its essentially the stock Bose system with a zenclosure imo it sounds decent but I do want something better.
