I wouldn't really say a waste of money since it may help out the guys with both a Z and a S. I just picked my 03 touring for a daily and when I went to start it I natural tried to push a non existent button on the Z lol. Happens to me here and there when I take the S out on the weekends. I must likely will do this mode just to make it more like my S lol. Nice DIY mod. Thanks for posting it. Later.

I want to do this, but I can't find the kit. I also can't find ANY shift ***** with the engine start switch built in that doesn't look completely useless or lame. And from my understanding, I could use any push/release button relay for this, right? Any help or suggestions. The shifter from Eleanor in Gone in 60 Seconds would look awesome. Anyone know of a shifter similar to that one?

I've been working on a pushbutton ignition using the altima button. It reads the RPM from the ECU signal and offers single tap starting of the engine. Plus hold for 1-2 seconds to stop the engine (so you don't accidentally bump it, which allows you to place it in areas where it is likely to get bumped, like the center console). Its nearing completion, at which point I will post some vids and pictures. I'm thinking about selling it in a kit if it's everything I hope it will be.
The one I have currently installed, which I also made, doesn't have much of a brain and no RPM sensing, so I don't think its worthy of making a kit for. But the new one should be. Anyway, just a heads up to keep an eye out for it.

What a lot of people don't understand is that this twisting motion of the key is wear and tear. The steps in turning the ignition can eventually get worn down and then the car may not stay on unless you literally hold the key in that position (I know cuz I had to do that with my Accord until my new part arrived).
Also, I see a lot of people don't let the embedded fuel-injection software kick in and wait for the fuel pump to power up before cranking the motor. These buttons could help force people to do that, resulting in healthier engines.
