Awesome..I have been thinking of pulling the trigger and giving this a try, and after reading this I think I just might. I have a question though...You only used hot glue to hold the sub ring in place, then covered with the sheet and resin. How does the ring itself stay supported? If you put the sheet over it, none of the resin is touching the wooden ring. Am I missing something here? It seems to me that there is no way that it would support the weight of a W7...

On the page I also linked my sources since it was my first FG box.

The biggest difference from the OP is half of my box lives half under/half over the stock trunk floor. This allowed it to be held in by the spare tire and take less space. I also used far less tape and resin.
Did you just take out the styrofoam piece and cut the carpet to fit your box in there?

Ring Support: You lay resin into the fabric to firm up the shape but this has no real strength. You then glass a bunch of layers inside and out to build up the strength. Basically the wood is there for shape and for something to put your screws into but the FG is where the real structure is.

Foam and carpet. Yes, I cut the foam, corrugated plastic and carpet.

Hey just reading through this thread and noticed alot of talk about structure strength. A lil trick I learned from the guys over in the fiberglass forums is to lay rope throught the inside of the enclosure and resin over that. Helps with strength alot.

Wow, I know this is an old thread but I am a new member and just got my first Z and have searched everywhere for one of these corner subs and I can't say enough about your sub man, that is a sweet build just wish I had the space and time to do one. It would probably be cheaper for me to just buy one from Wickedcas since I don't have the tools which would drive up the cost. Great sub though!!!!

progjazz: Thanks for the feedback to this disscussion, at the very least you should get an award for using the Search! You are right about the tools and time, that can make all the difference.

As far as my build went, I will say, after all this time, I am still happy with this setup, no stress cracks, no buzzing. Still looks new and sounds great.
