The green wire in the trunk for the reverse signal? Mine was there but I recall having to do a little hunting. Maybe the newer ones are different. If so, I would imagine you could find the wire for one of the reverse lights and splice it.

yea, where is that green wire in the trunk for the reverse signal? Did you have to remove all carpet and plastic parts in the hatch area?

If you remove the carpet then take the vertical piece of plastic at the back of the trunk out, the wire is about 6 inches down and 4 inches to the right (if you are facing the front of the Z) of the trunk latch IIRC.

its not lazy because you have to parallel park a lot in the East Coast. Having the camera make it easy knowing when it is too close to the car behind you or get to that tight parking spot you wouldn't able to make w/o the camera

not sure if this will work on 07s, but this allows a video input:

http://kptechnologies.com/products.php#/6

Just a weird note on my rearview camera- my old cam stopped working after 1.5 years. I replaced it with the identical camera, but it stopped working the same day. Turns out something shorted the s video cable. I replaced it with a third camera and made sure to use plenty of electrical tape and wire loom.

to play the rear view cam on a stock nav would require the same kit to view movies on the stock navi. The screen isnt made for video resolution on the oem nav so its not the greatest idea but it will work with most aftermarket modules. You would most likely have to switch views manually from nav to rear view unless the kit includes an automatic feed.

As for your shorting out issue, it sounds a bit strange, even a thin layer of electrical tape will protect the circuit for up to 600volts. Perhaps the wire got snagged somewhere along the body metal? My friends g35 lost the power trunk when the stock wire was cut in the trunk area and this was oem wiring.

Im waiting on my camera but I already ran the cables through the car and out to the license plate. Its a good idea to make the cable as solid as possible around sharp body metal openings. I used that grey round styrofoam stuff made for copper pipes (its like 1$ for a 3 foot piece). its not pretty but noone sees it anyways.

Good luck with the install

Can you or anybody else recommend a specific module that will work to have a back up cam work on a stock 04 Z's nav screen?

It does not. I found a module on ebay that lets you hook up a bu cam and dvd player...it goes for $179 shipped.

Found a pricier one with a google search that goes for $350.

Another member/friend asked me if I could install a bu cam in his 04 Z to work with his factory nav screen so I went researching...........

post mortem thread bump.

found this today.. its a replacement back up light housing w an integrated BU camera.
I personally opted for the ALpine unit sold to go along w my head unit, and am installing it in my Veilside rear end so it is unseen...
but this was super cool and very cheap.

Wow thats neat. Price is almost too good to be true. Worried quality would render it useless. May have to be the guinea pig. Not much to loose @ $25

I just don't wanna pay $200 for the matching (pioneer) camera.
