Default DIY: Radar Hardwire, Escort 8500 X50 (works for any radar though)

I just wanted to write a straightforward and simple radar hardwire for the Z. I know the company makes the short wire that connects to the mirror but i wanted a remote mounted button like this.

Step 1: Leaving enough wire out some where near the top of the windshield tuck the wire up into the seam between the headliner and the windshield. A screwdriver can be used to pry into place but my hands worked fine.

Step 2: In the same way this time using a screwdriver with tape on it, stuff the wire back into the drivers side A pillar then down into the footwell.

Step 3: Using a wiring snake or long piece of metal wire, stick the wire from the passenger footwell side to the drivers side underneath the center console, somewhere infront of the shifter. Use the wire to drag back the wires needed for power to the passenger side where you can get access to a power supply.

Step 4: Unplug the plug behind the cigarette lighter and pull it down past the trim. Its a simple two wires inside a black wrap. Cut the wrap and then strip the positive and negative wires and attach them to the hardwiring kit accordingly.

Then plug it it back in to the lighter and tuck the wires back into the trim and tape/ziptie accordingly to clean it up.

Step 5: Using some velcro i attacked the remote mount mute button next to the steering wheel.

Heres the final product! Much more clean than the coiled cord floating around my cabin.

You mentioned a company that makes a connector that goes from the rear view (equipped w/homelink) to the radar. I have the Valentine 1 and Im currently looking for the connector.

Im currently searching but your feedback would be most helpful, thank you.
