Stickers

Anybody make their own stickers for the car? ie: numbers, name on the car, etc etc??? I would really like to just buy a roll of vinyl in a couple colors and be able to make my own. I suppose I could by stencils and cut around whatever I needed. But looking for ideas or different ways of doing this. Just not cost effective to have one made everytime I want to change something on the car. Where are some cheap places to buy rolls of maybe 12" x 50' or so....just in that ball park?

Thanks!!!

I make my own stickers. I can make anything you want. Logo's, original designs. I design them in Illustrator and send them to the print shop to cut the vinyl. It's the only proffesional way of doing it.

FWIW, our club buys white magnetic material 2' wide by 50 or 100'. We sell it for maybe $3 a foot($1.50/sq.ft.). That lets people make numbers that stand out on all but white cars. Personally, I print out numbers from Word on the printer in the font and size I want and use them as templates. The material cuts quite nicely with a good pair of scissors. Instead of cutting holes for 4, 6 8, 9 or 0 I use a magic marker to blacken in the area so the numbers don't tear. I carry them in a manila folder behind the passenger seat.

Not as nice as Jetpilot but nobody has ever bitched that they couldn't read my numbers on course.

Sean does an awesome job and will do it quickly.

You might even see some lucky guy's CS 350Z in the pics with their numbers on it.

I wonder who it could be?????

Just go on ebay and get a vinyl plotter. They are very cheap. Make sure you get good software to interface with the plotter. Don't use the crappy trial software they give you when you buy the plotter, buy a program called flexi starter 8.5 (it's about $150.00, but well worth it). As for vinyl, it all depends on what you need it for, I would use oracle 651 vinyl.

Google USCutter and check them out, they have some really good prices.

Heres an easy option!

I went to a local print shop and asked if they had a hot laminator and whats the largest they can do!

Then i had them get some card stock paper i believe its 12 x 20 and had them Laminate it. I just tape it to the car with blue painters tape and its on and off in two seconds!

I then use paint marker/dry erase - just the largest tip marker i could find.
I never have to change the numbers, cause i pick the same number every time.

oh, print shop charged me 15 bucks for 6 of them...two for me, two for my buddy and i got an extra two incase someone wanted to go autoX'n or Drifting with me!

For Sale signs and Loews or Home Depot, flip them over put the vinyl number on it. Tape it to he car with clear tape if you want it to look decent. Very inexpensive to do. Sign shop shouldn't charge you more than 5.00 per digit @ 8" to 10" tall. For Sale signs are 3.00 I believe.

I will say one of the local members on here just got a 7' or 8' wide vinyl cutter this weekend. I will not post who it is, but I will forward the link to this thread and see if he will offer his services.

Magnets, made by a guy that is part of the Austin SCCA Club. I will have to find his website again.

^^ Magnet decals look good!

Do they slip at all SOLO-350Z?

I've heard of people getting magnet decals on the Z and then they slip because the overall thickness of the magnet isnt strong enough. ive seen some magnet decals that are say 1mm thick, but only like a 1/3rd of the thickness is the magnet and they are not strong enough....

then ive seen some that the owners say they have no complaints...... and when i check them out the magnet on their material decals are about half the thickness of the overall 1mm thick decal, not a measily 1/3 of the thickness...

just thought i would share so the OP can check that...They seem to slide and move on the Z due to the factory crease in the door of the Z if the magnet isnt strong enough..

I never had issues with magnets in autocross, but I lost one of my 3's this weekend at Mid Ohio. Helps if you put a small amount of tape over the leading edge so the air doesn't get under them.

Nope, they are on there good. I have tried the static cleen ones, and they like to get messed up after a while, plus the magnets are easier to put on and take off. Let me see if I can find a better picture of them, they have a red outline on them as well.
They are pretty thin. I went over 100 mph with them without any issues. If you are worried you could always tape the front sides of them to keep them from catching air.
