*AE Performance 370Z Takes 1st Place at Redline Time Attack!*
AE Performance 370Z SS RWD Class Winners at Round 7 Redline Time Attack!
Recap:
Spring Mountain was a first for the AE crew and with 18 turns it was anything but easy to figure out the fast way through the course, but fortuneately NV locals including Mike and the Double Down crew were super cool in lending a helping hand.
On track the car felt rock solid. The AE preped JIC dampers allowed for late apexing and a planted rear end through the high speed sections even with the old tires we were on. (3 track days).
We switched to Ferodo RS3000 pads for our AP brakes that ended up being a bit too aggressive in the rear but a quick swap to a milder Mintex pad in the rear settled the car much more and was easier to keep stright under hard braking.
Heat was a major issue for everyone. With the Oil Cooler upgrade we were still only able to complete 1 hot lap before the oil temps hit 280deg and the car wouldn't rev past 5k rpm's.
After all was said and done, We were all really impressed with the Z. With viturally no power mods out-side of a Stillen intake and Mine's Flash we were solely relying on the Z's chassie to pull through for us and it did! Rich placed 5th in Modified RWD Class in the GT2, GTR (DNF),and I grabbed top honors in SS RWD class with the Z, and was able to make the 4.5hr drive back to the OC without a hick-up.
Next Event we'll have:
Fresh Tires! (Hankook RS3's)
More Camber (SPL or equilviant)
More Cooling (Twin Setrab's)
More Powa! (AE Exhaust, AE down pipe's, Pulley, etc)
Stay tuned for more updates on our new products soon to be released for the Z!
Big Thanks to the crew at JIC and Hankook Tires!
Wish us luck at Round 8!

Congrats, it was looking good out there except for your time being high centered. Maybe i'll see you at the next event, still debating on if i run it or not.
Even my Z33 was running hot that day for some odd reason, i've done many days mid summer at that track and never had a heat issue till sunday.

Great looking car. When we race at Roebling Road on the 4th of July weekends and the temp hits 100 its time to turn on the heater and drain off some engine heat. It works if you can stand it.

Thanks very much,
In the rush to get all the cars and gear together we seemed to forget a major pre-race detail of swapping out the OEM brake fluid for some Motul. Needless to say, first TA run + the extreme heat = brake pedal on the floor! lol Not gonna lie it was pretty scary =)

I bet , i only saw the pics of how your car was sitting. If i remember right 2 cars had problems in your session. Well 2:45.8 was my best for the day, need more driver mod, and front traction to get close to you.

Yeah I think the heat was causing prob's for everyone that day. 2.45 is solid though. Whats your current set-up your running? Our biggest issue grip wise was the OEM tires that we did 3 previous track days on, before the time attack, just another case of rushing around before the event.
Rd. 8 will be the first event the car will be "properly" set-up and prepared for the TA. Fresh tires, power adders, etc.
Did you guys figure out the oil temp issue Z is looking really nice
Don't know yet, were putting together a custom Dual Core set-up with ducting along with a oil pan spacer to add an extra Qt, that will be ready for Rd 8 Time Attack.
This should do it but we won't know until we have the car car back on the track.
I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on the progress and pic's of the new set-up!

nice to see a 370 on the track..... i take it you competed in stock class. i know a few guys that compete in street and they are pretty quick ( couple of S2000's and a lotus ) i competed in 3 of redlines events on the east coast this year. i finished 2nd in total points on the east coast in my 350Z nismo in the street rwd class. i bet the competition is much better on the west coast, i cant believe the number of participants between the two. my son and i are trying to secure a trailer and make the longggg trip out from pittsburgh for rd8 so we can bring both cars to autoclub speedway...... i would have rather ran spring mountain though, looks like a fun track. good luck in your next event and hope to see ya there.
