TopSpeed organized a Time Attack competiton at the Talledega Grand Prix this past weekend. Reese Cox from MTI was there was his crazy race prepped C6 Vettes, and we traded fast laps all day.
During practice, I was running our GT-R with some old Toyo R888's turning1:03's and 1:04's. My times slowed as track temps began to rise in the afternoon. For the timed sessions, we swapped to a set of thrice heat cycled A6's from April's Modified Magazine Shootout event we attended, and hoped for the best.
The best would be a record breaking (I think...car with doors?) 1:00.7 lap around TGP. And then a few moments later Reese Cox put down a 1:00.6 lap. I was actually pretty shocked at how fast the GT-R was on the Hoosiers, dropping roughly 4 seconds on a 1:00 course is nuts!
Had a great time, and sounds like this event will take place twice each year. Thanks for reading.
Sadly, I had two cameras on the car, but didn't have them running. Didn't think I'd be setting any track records

Good job Sharif any idea when the next event will be held?
It will definately be sometime next as the weather improves. I will make sure to post it once any dates are announced. There were a couple of NA Z's and a 370Z as well. Fun event overall, and I am really diggin the new configuration.
I am almost certain that was the "production-based 4-wheel vehicle" track record. As far as I know it may currently be the overall "4-wheel vehicle" track record as I don't think there have been any fast formula cars or tube-frame cars on the new configuration yet...
The younger of the 2 guys that works at the track told me that "Shifter-Carts" hold the record...something in the low-to-mid- 50/55 Sec range...
Karts will definitely get into the 50's. I was talking to Scott, and we are going to go back with my interior removed (I was still running full interior and a 75lb passenger seat), and try to break into the 59's.

If you decide to do this before the next event, please let us know in advance - I would enjoy coming out to watch.
I think current overall track record is a 57.3 or so from a bike... A 250cc "super-kart" will probably get the overall track record - 105-110whp, 265 pounds, tires that last 30 minutes, and some aero...
