Quick update,

I won round 6 of the championship at Shannonville sweeping Fastest time of the day, top novice, first in SGT1 and first overall. The sim training really paid off and I was able to run my 1:11. I was just 0.2 seconds of the all time PAX record, and I crushed the SGT1 record.

I won 3/4 categories on day 2. Fastest time of the day, top novice, first in SGT1, but 5th on PAX overall, with a 99.27%. I DQ'd 3 times in 4 runs.

But I won the weekend and drew closer to my goal of winning all 3 awards up for grabs.

Now we travel back to my home track Grandbend Raceway. I am one of 4 class leaders who are in striking distance for the overall championship. I may be in 4th but I feel like it's mine to lose.

Some videos from Shannonville.
Pro track, SGT1 record. 0.2 off PAX record.

My first session on the Pro Track, eating up lots of fast cars.

Catching up to a 991GT3 in a timed run.

My first and only try at the Long circuit.

Awesome! Congrats.

What does your Sim setup consist of? I am considering putting one together to practice in the off season.

Read the whole story, this thread delivers!

Your local time attack series seems more popular than most down here in the southeast, I'm jealous.

+1 for iRacing, it definitely helps with visual and hearing queues. I don't think you need a full rig for sims, just a decent wheel and pedals on a good running PC. Something you might want to consider as you're wanting to develop your driving skillset more and more...... shifter karts. I'm not sure if there's a good program in your area, but once you start running karts(125cc) everything else is kind of in slow-motion. I have very little seat-time in karts, but I definitely agree it helps while driving other platforms.

Keep up the good work!

My 2015 Season Stats.

I know no one really keeps track of this except for me. But I like to keep bench marks and continue to keep track of my progress. Maybe everyone does it, maybe I just do it the most publicly.

For the 2015 year I entered a new series and ran on 8 technically different circuits. I had competed on essentially 4 of those 8 in some way shape or form previously, even if the layout wasn't 100% identical. If we are counting identical circuits and layouts I had competed on 2 of 8 previously.

I set 8 SGT1 lap records. Not all of them are fantastic, I had my share of technical issues. But review of the records posted on the CASC website confirms that even my "4 cylinders at Mosport" 1:34 was a SGT1 lap record.

I set two PAX records. A PAX record takes into account the handicaps set for each class then compares them. This occurred at Toronto Motorsports Park, and Grandbend Modified (surprise). I narrowly missed 2 more at Shannonville Pro on my first visit to the track, and GBR technical. I had eclipsed the Pax record in the morning in practice, but failed to do so on my one timed session that counted in the afternoon.

I am the first series winner from SGT1. It looks like no one has won from that high of a class before. It also looks like I am the first Novice to win.

I recently attended the Canadian Sport Compact Series final battle at Toronto Motorsports Park.

I won my class in the Time Attack setting the SSR record... Just barely.
I was on the worst set of TDs I've ever had. But that is another story.

At the end of the day I entered my first wheel to wheel race experience.
It's an exhibition where cars are staged in a reverse order grid.

Super fun.
It's called Max Attack.

And in practice I ran into a Radical SR3 and 997 GT3 Cup

Something a bit out of the ordinary. I was brought in to do some performance and precision driving for a Tesla Model S commercial that was shot in Toronto. I'm not sure where the commercial will play but it was pretty exciting. I had no mishaps. Everything went well. Maybe this will become a thing? The director said if he gets the job he may bring me along on a Toyota Tundra commercial as well. We will see.

As for the Model S. I want one. So awesome.

That's interesting, and ironic because I was on the 401 today looking at one admiring it.
I've had a thing for them, but today I decided I'd like to own one someday. But can a trailer hitch be mounted, I wondered?
Cool car.
Oh, wait. Pending doom. WW3 followed by the Apocalypse. No Tesla for me.

Congrats on your driving gig! Did you get paid? In any case, it shows how racing can pay off down the road.
