Hmm, I have mine setup with a breather on the drivers side port that used to go to the intake. Then the passeneger side is OEM with a catch can in between the PCV and the plenum vacuum port. It seems to work fine for me. Does anyone see a problem with this? I see it as pulling fresh air through the drivers side and sucking the nasty stuff through to get deposited in the can and the rest into the intake. N/a application also.

Now that our Racecar is boosted it started pushing a fair amount oil.
the larger the hose you use the slower the air flows out of the engine giving the oil/oil vapor time to drop out of the stream (good)
so we removed the PCV valve, drilled the valve cover larger and tapped it for a larger -AN fiting.
on the passenger side (RHD car) the vent on the rear has a restrictor in it.
we also drilled that out.
Both those hoses run to a single large can (rules state minimum of 3L for our engine size)
inside this can its got a condensing plate on the entry which knocks out most of the oil from the air, with the rest of the filled with stainless steel wool to catch the rest.

this solved our problems except for long distance races, the can now has a small pump which returns the oil back into the crank case.

So I got in 2 sessions before I fragged my clutch today. The catch can was half full , looks like all the oil was from the PCV side of the cover, what can I do to keep mas amounts of oil from getting to the breather tank.

Make sure the drain in the valve cover isnt clogged (would need to remove the covers), position the can slightly higher. Or maybe thats normal...there doesnt seem to be a consensus on what a normal amount of oil is, will vary depending on motor and how its run. Sucks about the clutch.

I was looking as my spare valve cover last night. Is there any reason I can't open up that drain , maybe even make a bigger drain ?

Why do you even want to run a can, NA? There should be none if minimal crank case pressure. Like others have posted, the can may be too low and the g-force is pushing oil into the can with no where to go. Maybe you are just creating an problem for yourself? Keep it stock IMO.

I was sucking a ton of oil into the plenum. It was coming in thru both the PCV and inlet pipe. I wanted to eliminate burning 3 quarts of oil every 125 track miles

There is a bigger issue here then. Catch can sounds like a band aid at best.
Compression / leak down test?

I know my engine is hurting a bit. There should be a way to keep oil from being pumped out of the top of the motor

I am looking to install a catch can between PVC and intake. Do I need two, one for each side. Does it need filtered and breather. I have looked at different ones but not sure the best route. What is the best options? Thank you.

I have a 2006 n/a with few basic mods with oil consumption issues as expected for that year. I don't remember where i read that installing one of these helped with that. So I'm trying in the market for one and how to install it. Strangely enough, when searching here for the topic this thread showed up and reading it showed that there's different ways to install it and different types of catch cans (baffled, vented), can somebody please explain this to me and how it would help in my application (if it really does) and if it's worth it? Thanks in advance
