FYI since this is done by the BCM you can do this procedure even with a Haltech Standalone.

Thanks for this clear explanation. Worked great on a $6 fob from Amazon! One thing to note, car locks itself after a minute or so if you've been using the fob to lock/unlock it.

kauai1800 i've been looking for an extra fob, can you link the amazon one you bought? The one I got off eBay was no good

Bumping an old thread, but I just bought a ZR that only came with 1 key and fob. Going to order a new fob so if I were to somehow loose my key or lock myself out, I can get inside. Then get a new/second key cut, and rip them apart to build a switchblade key .

same here! it unlocks the doors but no flashing lights.

Default Key fob programming messed up my working fob

5. If there are any remaining remotes (including the old ones), unlock then lock all doors using the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch. Within 5 seconds, push ANY button on the next remote. Your hazard lamps should flash. Repeat this step for each keyless remote (including any existing keyless remotes).

6. Turn the key to the OFF position, remove keys from the ignition, unlock doors using the driver’s side power lock/unlock switch and open the driver side door.

hello,

I tried this method but after the my car flashed my key fob didn’t program. I tried the same process but now the car doesn’t flash no matter how many times I put the key in the ignition. Can someone help please?
