07 shift ****
used usmanasif's attachment(thanks) on the o7 with the vice grips and the monkey wrench with a towel for the **** to avoid damaging it. It required more force than i thought and it took about 5 complete revolution to loosen it to a point where i can actually use my hand. Just make sure the the vice grips are as tight as possible over the rubber booth on the shaft.

I must being a complete idiot.... these write ups on how to do a simple mod like remove a shift **** are great but something just isn't going in my favor!
no matter what i do the damn thing just wont come off! it feels like its welded on!!! despite the waste cloth, the shaft is getting chewed up from the vise grip and the **** isnt budging.
i wanna throw the new **** through a window....
any words of advice?

Alright here is what I am dealing with. I changed my shift **** no problem, now my sister(who also has an 03 Z) wanted me to change hers. Ok easy, mine took about a whole 3 mins hers will be just as easy. Wrong... I cant get hers off for the life of me.
I have the shift pole secured so i will not screw up the linkage, I am using channel locks on the actual **** (which is chewed up something ugly now). I got the loctite to break i am pretty sure but now the shift **** spins when i use force but its not going anywhere. I probably got it to spin about 5-6 times and it just wont loosen up.
Right now i am thinking it is maybe a cross thread issue. Is this even a possibility? how many times did everyone else spin theirs before is truly loosened up and can be finished by hand?(i cant remember when i did mine awhile back)
Also I am looking into the possibility of cutting it off, what is the best way to do this?
Sorry for the long *** post but i want to get this done for her before i head back to SC. thanks is advance, hopefully i provided enough info.

When you're turning it with the channel locks turn & force them up toward the roof @ the same time. CAREFULLY. If you did somehow strip the threads, they'll eventually grab & keep backing off. I think I had to rotate mine 10-12 times before it came off.
I had my wife holding the Vise Grips in the passenger seat so I could put as much force as needed to get the thing off. I also used a huge pair of 360 size channel locks.

ok I feel like a dumb*** for asking this so please no flaming...
I really like the 03-04 nismo shift **** (its the small leather one) better than what the dealership says is the 08s. My dads friend has one of the ***** that i like, but is there anyway to make the older shift **** fit my 2006? the dealer told me "the shift **** will not go all the way down to the shift boot."
are they trying to make me buy one from them or are they right? and if their right any way i can make it work and it not look like pure $^!*??
