i like this write up but my03 has hairline cracks in the lenses so i brought a pair of the black housing headlights from a guy on craigslist. they were brand new and still in the box. i was just gonna retro fit my hid(s) to those and put them in. has anyone tried this before and if so how good does it work?

Are they OEMs or replica? I read once that the replica aren't exactly easy to work with. About a month ago, a guy wanted me to do the same thing with his. I look at it and decided that it is a bit different. I didn't wanted to take a chance with it. It really would be up to you since you are doing retro work. Let us know how it turns out.

i got it done, i just purchased the black housing headlights. once i got them i examined them and they look just like the oem(s) in every way. to get the hids to fit i just switched the wiring harness from the factory to the rep(s) and cut out a hole in the bottom of the reps for the ballast(s) to be drilled in the bottom, i also used the factory sockets and this all took about an hour for both lights. it took longer to take the bumper off. i promise to post some pics soon, my camera is tripping right now.

Pics of a blacked out housing without diminishing the hi-beam and lo-beam light output reflecting off the chrome.
Just did it a couple of weeks ago, flat black is definitely the way to go, gloss paint is too easy to make a mistake with. I think its a definite improvement, although now I'm craving getting a set of blacked out Bi-Xenons.
Also, if you have a gas stove, don't use cardboard - my cardboard caught on fire (just the edges) even after being soaked for an hour in water. The bare metal grill in the stove didn't hurt the light housing.

Are you saying to put in STi hid projectors? I thought sti's didn't have the best lenses, and that 06+ 350Z bi-xenons were pretty good?
Are there any other lenses that I could put into an '07 light, such as a BMW or TSX lens?

Has anyone had any problems with the inside of the lens after doing this? I had a shop do mine awhile back, and shortly after it developed this problem. I thought it was condensation, but it must have something to do with chemicals, heat or both. I took some pictures with my phone, so it's a bit hard to see.
