Should I use spray paint that is plastic-specific? I imagine regularly formulated paint would flake over time.

- I didn't have pics when I took part the headlights, cuz my hands and my brothers were busy pulling it part.
- Silcone FTW, no leaks or condensation for 1 month, it's even been out in the pooring rain the past weeks.
- I got chrome single bulbs from ebay: seller: rjcalnan, very cheap!
- LED's from superbrightleds.com $25 a bulb, $15 each flasher unit
- You can buy the reflector in clear or smoked from http://www.ricks2k.com/products/350zdiffusers.php $55, fast and friendly
- I didn't want to black them out, for some reason the '03- headlights look weird backed out for me...
- Thx Eric ZDiRty, for the links and tips
- I didn't take a pic of every process or screw, some of it's str8 foward (if u can build a gundam level 4+, then u can do this)

Laosifu, if you want the links to the pics, I'll be glad to give it to you if you want to place it in the original post.

Any paint should do you really. According to my buddy Tienana who bought my black housing 5 years ago, still perfect.

Omega6,

Thanks for those pictures. Very detail and I would like to use them.

I definitely recommend scuffing the inside with sandpaper and laying down primer. I put about 4 coats on mine.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get the grey plug that is attached to the headlight off? Its the piece that you actually plug in the blue connector from the car. I have all the bulbs loose, but I can't get the dang grey piece off. Any help?

I had trouble pulling that out too, I just pulled really hard and it came out.

Before, I tried placing a flat head in that little slot thinking there was a clip, but that didn't work either. If I can remember i had to squeeze it on both sides went and pulled really hard. GL

first time removing is always difficult. Just need to put your muscle to work.

Oh I got it.....but at the expense of the little side clips that hold the clip on there, nothing a little super glue couldn't fix. Thanks for the info though! The guide was a real help. It was a little daunting at first, but a little patience and elbow grease will get you through! Thanks for the guide!

man, that was nerve racking, I tried at 7min, didnt budge, gave it another 3 and it came apart. little hard getting it started, but once it broke open, easy enough.

I painted darn near everything, I never use the high beam anyway. I also painted the metal lens holder thing, part of me wants to paint the whole thing, HID reflector and all, but Im worried it will absorb too much heat and damage it somehow.

I painted mine this week and they came out gorgeous thanks to this DIY. Unfortunately I didn't do a proper sealing job on the drivers side and after I washed the car, water got into the headlight and now the HID wont turn on. Can anybody speculate what type of damage occurred? I took out the bulb and it didn't look burnt out. I really hope I didn't fry the circuitry... FYI this is a 2008 headlight, and the turn signal/parking light still works.

Check your ballast. It might has excess water in there that needs to be try.

Ok, there's definitely water in the ballast. I removed all the torx bit screws, but I can't get it open using light pressure. Is there a method of opening it, or should I just force it?

wait are you taking off the ballast or opening the ballast?

since there is water in the ballast, just shake off the water off and leave it out in the hot sun to dry. crossing my fingers for you that should work.
