DIY- Nismo floor mats 06-08 to fit 03-05 z fitment

Hi,

So i wanted new floor mats, and i visited my favorite oem parts site: courtesyparts.com.

Luckily they had the NISMO FLOOR MATS for 33 bucks! I never knew floor mats had different sizes, carpet texture between the year models.

The carpet, quality and the rubber wear section is only on the 06-08 model NISMO MATS.
I wish i would have taken a pic of the 03-05 mats to show the difference.

03-05 Nismo mats
Black/greyish fuzzy carpet textured mats. Overall, smaller than the 06-08 mats.


06-08 Nismo mats.
Larger/longer than 03-05 mats.
Rich Black - weird knot carpet - (i dont know what they call it....lol...see pics)

OK, Here is where the 06-08 mats added length flops on top of the dead pedal.

OK, Originally i thought i would leave it alone, or maybe even look into seeing if the 06-08 dead pedal was different, thought of replacing mine......but then i noticed that the heals of my Lance Armstrongs were hitting the edge of carpet and reinforced rubber area.

So then i went to a local upholstery shop here in the DFW area, i guess its not really a DIY since i had the upholstery shop guy (lets call him BJ) install a new spur grommet.

Here is where i got a razor blade and cut off some of the rubber gripper tips in order to locate a new spur grommet:

YEAH, SO I PAINTED IT - GOT A RANDOM PIECE OF CARDBOARD AND THEN PUNCHED A HOLE IN IT. I USED MY THUMB!

I WENT TO A LOCAL UPHOLSTERY SHOP CALLED BJ'S UPHOLSTERY IN GRAND PRAIRIE, TX.

BJ CHARGES $10 BUCKS - YOU CAN SHOW UP ANYTIME HIS SHOP IS OPEN. TELL HIM JASON SENT YOU AND SHOW HIM WHAT YOU WANT DONE AND I'M PRETTY SURE IT WILL BE ALL GOOD.

MAYBE YOU GUYS CAN FIND A SHOP THAT HAS BLACK SPUR GROMMETS? I DUNNO, I DIDNT CALL AROUND, I JUST STOPPED AS I PASSED BY AND HAD THE WORK DONE.........AND IM SURE ANYONE CAN GET THIS DONE AT ANY REASONABLE SHOP FOR MAX 10 BUCKS.

but I have to ask...did you get the 06-08 ones cause you like the carpet better? Or is that the only ones they gave ya?

I didnt have to modify mine and they fit like perfection

I guess I'm missing the point of this DIY, but why did you have to make a new grommet spur? Couldn't you just remove the deadpedal and stuff the floormat underneath it?

So you have two gromment holes in the mats? So you attach it to the oem place of an 03 and not worry about the length?
