No, those are LEDs as well. 4 in total per HID housing. 1 on each top side vent of the housing and 2 on top. The red circles indicate where each LED is.DIY: Adding "Demon eye" to '06+ Headlights-demon-eye-6.jpg

Ran into a problem with the other light. One of the screws from the reflecting shroud stripped. Im on my way to Home Depot to try and get a fix for it.

Hey guys, Im new on the forum.....not a 350 guy, I sport a BMW......I dig 350's though and mostly joined this site because of this forum, it's been a great help to me.....I am actually fixing to do this within the next week or two....I will post pics as I go along and I will be doing 4-5 led's per housing so that all of us can see how it will look.....I am probably going to practice it first on a projector housing that I have from a broken fog light that used to be on my Bimmer....

sweet site though guys, keep up the cool mods

How hard is it to run the wires to the blank space near the gas door and add the switch?

anyone tried this with 3 LEDs instead of 1?
Sorry guys, I haven't been too active on this board recently. I have a hotrod addiction too, and am busy with my current build. Wiring the switch was easy man, just drill the panel and install.

I'm happy to report that mine are still doing well, working just as good as they were the day I put them in. I love the idea of putting more than one LED in the projector, but I'm not about to take my lights apart again unless I absolutely have to! Great job guys, glad I inspired a few of you to take the plunge!

is this type of modification legal?
I really love the way it looks, but I don't want to get pull over because of that.

I have driven short distances with mine on and havent gotten pulled, but I'm sure thats just plain luck. The demon eyes are more for parking lots, shows, etc.and are illegal. I personally wouldn't go thru the hassle of tearing my lights down JUST for the demon eye. I wanted to black mine out and figured since it was apart already I might as well add the LEDs.

Its not too tough, I prefer using a heat gun, the oven is more even, but the damp cardboard fogs the lenses. Use a heat gun and slide a butter knife between the lens and housing, then keep heating and prying all the way around.

What's the downside of the lenses getting fogged? Don't they just de-fog later or does this cause some kind of permanent trapped condensation? Idk, I'm just having trouble deciding which opening method to use...

I tried opening my front reflectors with a heat gun and the area I was heating just bulged up. I then tried putting them into the oven and the lens began to bulge also. Don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not going to try this on my headlights if I can't get it right with the front reflectors. I"m thinking maybe I need that attatchment that goes on the heat gun as to concentrate the heat to a more specific area.

The headlights are sealed with a tacky caulking not glue like the reflectors. When you heat the headlights to about a 6" section at a time and keep the gun moving! The bulge was because it got too hot.... try holding it further away, and keep it Moving. You'll open it up just fine.

i used a heat guna dn it went really well.. the only problem was when i sealed it back up i did a bad job and it leaked.... had about 2 cups of water in them... so make sur eyou silicone the crap out of them.. other than that cool mod the light isnt as bright or even as i wish but you can still see them. i also changed out to the STi lens so that made it diffrent....

Here's my progress.. I used the flexible, exterior, front-facing LED strips with 3 LED's per strip. Waiting on the paint shop to finish the housings..

Is this project possible on 03-05 headlights? If so, I might look in to it...
