LOL... it's been a while and I've had no time to work on this lamp conversion project. I did purchase the DDM 55w kit with 8k (D2R lamps w/ceramic band) but have no comments at this point, other than the kit looks nice and I think the additional wiring harness will work. I may not get to this until late spring next year. Also, I did pick up the D2R to H7 aluminum adapters, but again, I have no idea if there going to work or if I'll even need them. The DDM D2R socket assembly looks a little different than the OEM HID sockets, which may cause more conversion problems...!? I guess I'll find out in a few months.

abui01 you are the man.

Just when I was going to put my newly purchased OEM Ballast and bulbs for sale online, I found your post. I tried everybody's suggestion but nothing was easy. When I saw yours it made perfect sense.

Thanks.

I have a question about the connection. Do I need to change my 6 pin to an 8 pin connector or do they just fit straight up. Bc I see u pulled out the orange piece but how did u make it 8 pin.

I'm assuming you're asking how to put 06-08 headlights onto an 03-05 base model Z. Here are the steps:

1. Completely remove the 06-08 (8-prong) connector from the 06-08 headlight (follow steps on 1st page to figure out how to pull the pins out)
2. Completely remove the 03-05 (6-prong) connector from your 03-05 base headlight
3. Connect/snap-in the 6 prong 03-05 plug onto the 06-08 headlight wires (no cutting/splicing needed)
4. DO NOT connect the blue wire from the 06-08 headlight, just leave it dangling (if you connect it, it will make the top orange blinker light stay on permanently)
5. Discard the factory 8-prong plug, you will no longer need this (unless you want to resell your headlights in the near future of course)

Your 06-08 headlights are now converted to a 6 prong plug. It should directly plug it into your 03-05 base wiring harness.

P.S. Don't worrying about criss-crossing the wires, nothing will blow up (I trial and error'd this about 9x till I got it right the first time.) You'll know if you got something wrong because the lights will just blink rapidly when you try to turn them on.... and/or they simply won't turn on at all.

Yes, though keep in mind the link you provided was for an aftermarket set of 06-08 headlights, so the wiring color "could be" different. I can't say for sure since I've never dealt with aftermarket ones before. However, it's the same concept yes.

I couldnt get that stupid orange clip out so I cut off the 8pin and wired on the old 6pin harness. The wires are all matched up and everything works, parking lights, blinkers, high and low beams too. However, when I turn them on, it messes up my Throttle Position sensor and my check engine light comes on, this causes the engine to stop responding to my throttle input and slowly losses revs. I got my electronic toys and read the code which said that the TPS is off so I had it erase the code and then all was good again with the engine, but the lights are not at maximum power I can tell because you can barely see them on.

Wiring is correct for sure... but I dont know whats wrong??? I have a base 05 btw...

I got in a car accident and my hid head light housing broke along with the the tabs. If I buy an eBay housing is it easy to transfer over the hid ballast? Please let me know what was hard about it and if it's worth to buy it or just buy a oem one. Thanks
