I used to use 2x10's until I ended up dropping the clutch to try to keep it from rolling off the back, which shot the board out and shattered my shelf and almost dropped a stereo on my car.
Now I have these cheap low profile ramps. They are pretty much the same as the takata ramps for MUCH cheaper, and do the job PERFECT.
Thank me later.

I paid 35 bucks for my rhino ramps from kragen that support up to 8000 pounds (more than enough for just the front of the car)
yours are cool, but for 35-18 = $17... too much of a waste of time

Did the same wood ramp thing 3 years ago and it is still working fine.
I have rhino ramps too, but with my clearance, that ain't happening. The nose will hit. Not to mention they're kinda worthless if you loose the rubber grommets underneath. They start to slide as you go up and down. Cool for a stock Z though.

Here's the ramps I built some time ago. The key to building your own ramps is not making them too long. If they are too long, you will not be able set up a jack properly under the jack point...
