Rebuilding Stoptech Calipers???
Hey guys, I'm trying to see what it takes to rebuild stoptech 4 piston calipers. Can the pistons, seals and dust boots be replaced without disassembling the calipers? If a couple dust boots popped over the pistons, I can just push the boots back into place, right (no need to rebuild)? I just had my calipers powdercoated and these questions came up. Thanks for your inputs.

I have to emphatically say DO NOT use any kind of abraisive (emery cloth) on the inside of the piston bores in our calipers. We apply a hard anodizing to the caliper to strengthen the piston bores and if it is removed, it will only serve to sgnificantly reduce the life of the parts. Wipe them down with some brake cleaner and a rag only...anything more will only serve to damage the calipers.

I know that the STi stock Brembos are hard anodized so we can assume the EVO and 350Z Track calipers are as well. We are pretty sure that their GT calipers are hard anodized before painting also. I can comment on other brands.

Rebuilding StopTech ST-40 and ST-22 calipers DIY
I searched and I could not find any DIY guide for rebuilding the StopTech calipers to install the dust and pressure seals. If one doesn't existing I'll write one up since I am about to do mine in the next few weeks. A few questions that I didn't see answered.
1. It looks like the caliper needs to come off the mount to complete the process since you have to get the rotor out of the way? I have to do this anyhow since I'm putting new StopTech AeroRotors on too. Is this correct?
2. Do you have to spit the caliper to get the piston out to install the pressure seal or does it have clearance leaving the caliper together?
3. Any tricks or issues folks have run into when replacing all of the seals?
