Default How many miles do stock brake's get?

I have the non-brembo brakes on my 07 enthusiast. I just had my 30K mile service done, and they said that it wasn't time to change them yet. I was just curious as to how many miles everyone else was getting out of there brakes. I'm planning on replacing them with hawk pads, but I'm not sure what I will do about the rotors. Drilled, slotted, both, or just turn them. I appreciate your input in advance.

(I did the search, but I would like fresh advice)

As the old saying goes " your actualy mileage may vary". I've seen people report getting less than 10K and other report more than 30K. It just depends on how hard your push the car.

Unless they're worn thin or are warped, you don't need to do anything to the rotors yet. Stay away from drilled. Slotted probably don't offer a noticable performance advantage for street use.

how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

As Dave said, will depend on your driving. If the dealership says you DON'T need to change them, I'd believe them. Usually they would be more inclined to say they do need to be replaced so they can charge ridiculous prices.

I just changed my front pads out & when I got everything out to do it, I realized that the pads I had were slightly glazed & dust was everywhere. If I were to sand them down a little & clean up the calipers they would have lasted 6 more months easy. My 05 has 38K

Until you replace them.

Is that the correct answer?

I'm at 55k and mine are still the original ones but there at the replacement stage. I ordered some HAWK pads to replace them.

Mileage vs life is so imprecise since you haven't counted total number of applications and durations............why a NY city mile is different from a rural city vs an interstate mile. Same with tires and shocks.

Rig an occurance totalizer and a duration timer to brake lights to gleen something useful and still you might see a 100% variance without a pedal/caliper pressure logger.

Default Stock Non-Brembo Brake Longevity

I cooked my stock non-Breembo brakes at approx. 15K miles mostly due to stop-n-go congested driving in flooded streets and avoiding bad drivers. Cooked the front pads/rotors the first time I tracked my 350Z. I replaced the stock brakes with a BBK and could not be happlier.
