Default How to replace dampers on Greddy Type S Shock

Hey Guys,

I'm in the middle of replacing my shocks for my 2005 350z. I have the Greddy Type S Coilovers. I'm replacing only the rear. So I've already removed the shock from the rear of the vehicle since it was leaking fluid. Greddy sent me the replacement damper that goes inside the shock assembly. I was able to remove the top portion of the shock to move over to the new replacement damper. Although, I'm not sure how to remove the rubber boot and bottom piece of shock in order to switch over to the new damper piece. It is supposed to enclose the new damper. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The boot lifts off and also has your bump stop under it, you need to put the top piece back off to do it.

The lower part, just back off the lock ring and the shock will simply unthread.

So for the rubber boot, are you saying to put the top piece back on to remove it? Because the top piece is already off and on the new one. It's just not fully screwed in.

Also, for bottom piece, do you need the lock wrench that came with the kit. That I do not have. Any other suggestions on tool to remove it? Thanks.

You need a set of spanner wrenches, they are cheap on Ebay..

The rubber boot just pulls right off , then you need to remove the top part once again on the new one to install it.

Awesome...Thanks for the info. Question about the rubber boot. Do you just simply pull it up with your hand? It feels quite snug on there almost as if you would need a tool to remove it with.

Just pull it up by hand, it sits snug so it doesn't fall down and keeps the shaft protected

Awesome, Thanks a lot bud. I'll give it a shot. I just need to see if there is a way to get some spanner wrenches from a local shop. If not, I'll be stuck driving the car on the old shock for another week. Wish me luck.
