Poor Braking 2003 350z
Hi everyone,
My car doesn't brake hard unless i press the pedal really hard, and even then at slow speeds car wont brake abruptly, its really slow like if i had super hard pads.
I had this issue with my oem (non brembo) brakes, and then i upgraded to brembo and same issue.
Im using semi metallic wagner pads, oem spec, they are new, not crystallized.
I upgraded to stoptech metallic lines.
I took the booster and brake pump to a shop to check, they said they are both perfect.
Im using dot 4 ATE super blue fluid which we replaced and bled with a machine, same issue. My pedal is hard and not spongy.
If i remove the abs fuse both front tires lock at the same time, (245/35/19)
Is this feel normal on the z? i noticed our boosters are single diaphragm, i drive my brother's genesis which has dual diaphragm booster and its so sensitive.
Any other ideas on what would be wrong?

I disagree with that. I run those pads on everything I own from trucks to cars and none of them have that type of sensation.
I do agree with a proper bed in procedure though. I never believed in it until I tried it one day. Big difference.

I run them on my truck also.
Since he has a hard pedal it just sounds to me like he needs a better compound. Multiple people comment that the Brembos have a numb on-limit feeling (such was also the case with the multiple negative magazine reviews and corresponding Consumer Reports ratings of the Z brakes)...this is likely due to poor pad choice from the factory, which is at least on-par with the Wagner/BeckArnly/Raybestos OEM equivalent.
I ran P-Mu b-force pads for a while, IMO these were also inadequate.
A good pad compound will transform the system, but they need to be bed-in properly. The OP should perform a thorough bed-in - those pads wont require much heat, just do a few heat cycles since you didn't mention new rotors.
Or maybe he has a bigger problem?
