Bent Rear Subframe?
Hi all,
My son came around a traffic island in a damp road situation and lost control of the car the impact was both front and back, hitting the curb. The front was literally just a skim, however the back bent the wheel inwards.
Took the back wheel off to find the front lower link #22 was bent into an S shape and the radius rod was bent a little also.
We found a guy parting out a 350Z locally and purchased the 2 items from him, installed them and took the car for an alignment at tires plus, oh the steering wheel was out too. When driving over say 40mph the car wanders and it's a battle to keep it straight.
They said they couldn't do an alignment as the front lower control arms and lower ball joints were shot. So I purchased and installed them.
Their quote for the parts and install was $940
Anyway we took it to tire kingdom yesterday for an alignment there. They test drove the car and put it on the ramps. They then said they couldn't do the alignment because the rear sub frame was bent and it might be a totaled car.
So I called a local collision repair shop and explained the situation. The guy said did they give you any readings, I said no they didn't even put it on the machine,. So anyway we have an appointment to take it in today for them to see it.
My question is if it's a bent frame does it mean the car is totaled or can it be fixed?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like it might be time to look for a new son...

^^^^^ Agreed
My one and only incident in the Z a few years ago was close to the same thing. Bent drag link and broken Toe arm/spring bucket. Also bent the mounting point of the drag link and camber arm = new sub frame..
$520 from Courtesy parts and a few hours of labor
